Am looking for a compact but well-made cover for the ST1300 to use while parking outside at work or when on a trip. Would also consider a half cover if they make one for it, as I had success with an Ultraguard cover on my GL1800 that covered just the top half.
Any recommendations?
THANKs. DWJ

I use the Geza cover..Very pleased..Its a 1/2 cover. Another one to consider is the Dowco. :03biker: :a13: :22yikes: :chef3:

Have the Geza. Hate it. Its not waterproof, soaks up rain like a sponge and the sun had mine in tatters after a year. I bought a Tour King half cover for work and love it. And its about 1/3 the price of the Geza

You are in luck my friend. I have the exact same issue. I went with an XL half cover from Nelson Rigg (UV-2000). It is waterproof AND UV proof. I don't like my dash getting faded from sitting in the sun. It also comes with a fanny pack to pack it into. Light weight, fairly small, and easy to pack away or strap to the back in the fanny pack. Been using mine since I got the bike in September.
If you want a pic of it on the bike just say so and I'll post one.
Their site sucks so here's a link to one. It's about 3/4 of the way down the page. Runs about $40.

You are the man. So far the cover you describe, and I checked out their web site, is closest to what I had in mind. I too don't want the bike to be cooked out in the sun and have its beautiful colors fade away.
If its not too much trouble please do post a pictuure of it on the bike. Thanks for offering that.
Thanks also to the other responders. ALways good to get a variety of perspectives on a product. This forum is awesome.

I used a a tourking 1/2 cover on mine all the time, there are two versions, with or without top box. Casporttouring (http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=st1300_Security) has them for $37.
Ya just gotta watch it when putting it on a hot bike, mine touched the pipes once and got a small burn hole.

What's the advantage to a half cover versus full cover? Is it ease of putting on/taking off? Does it prevent hot parts of the bike from making contact with the cover? Or is it simply storage concerns?
Ez Touring been using one for years, well made, light weight, packs SMALL

The EZ Touring one looks good to and says it protects against all the same things. Maybe the color action is what you want. I like the fanny pack from Nelson-Rigg myself. Not sure if the EZ Touring one is UV PROOF which the Nelson-Rigg says it is. I would believe it since the outside it reflective and the inside is sackcloth black. I can't see any UV getting through the Nelson-Rigg. I'll have to keep my eye out for an EZTouring one.

Advantages: Packs small and quick to take on and off. Doesn't hit any hot parts and full covers that have material to handle hot parts are typically bigger and harder to pack/stow. Mine is on and off very quickly and the fanny pack provides multiple ways to stow it.

Any disadvantages to the half-covers?

I checked out bike covers at a campsite and went for full coverage. Keeps the rain out better, also keeps the whole bike out of sight (out of mind). Comes with a stuff sack which fits nicely into the baja bag with my tent, Go-kot and camp chair.

Any disadvantages to the half-covers?
I think the main one is that is just doesn't cover the whole bike and sometimes that's nicer. Can't think of much else than that.
My main requirement was UV proof because I don't want my dash or black plastic to fade around the handlebar controls and dash area. Wax can protect paint but the black stuff is hard to keep nice when the sun fades it. I full cover would protect everything but not all covers block UV.

Excellent, thanks bones (And everyone else). That JC Whitney looks like it's cheap enough that even if it doesn't work out it's not a major set back. I live in Houston and will be picking up an '03 ST1300 on July 1rst. It will be freaking hot and I plan on riding to work with it. I'll definetely need some protection.
As far as UV protection, is it possible to put an industrial sun-block goop on the plastic parts, like the dash? Would throwing a towel on the dash under the cover also prevent significant UV damage?

And with a half cover I can ride to work and put the cover on right away. Never seen a full cover that you did'nt have to wait till the engine cooled a bit to put it on.
my old full cover for my ST11 was heat shielded and could be put on a hot bike... weighed a ton, and basically filled an entire saddle bag.

What size Nelson Rigg UV-2000 do you guys suggest for a ST-1100 with no topcase?

With the windshield up so high I would think you might still need the XL. I would think you could use the extra slack in the back to put it down over your saddlebags. Otherwise go with a large. I'm just not sure since I never owned an 1100.
Curt
I would stay with the XL, I believe the ST11 is a little longer & wider if I remember correctly, and the better/lower coverage might help keep out more dust in the wind.

A few weeks back when I purchased my 2005 the dealer threw in a Dowco cover with the comment that "in the past I've seen reds fade with extended time in the sun. After a year some of our red Hondas were showing signs of too much sun."
Just a thought...

I have the E-Z tour cover, had one for the GW, small, easy to stuff in the pouch, still haven't tried the new one the on the ST. Want a half cover for covering the bike at work, too much sun where they have us park our bikes.
Thanks to those of you that posted pictures of your half cover. Spend, spend does it ever end?....Nope :)
Got the Tourking 1/2 cover yesterday - fits like a glove, and folds up into a small sack the size of a paperback book. Can't vouch for the waterprrof quality yet, but it seems like it will be fine. For the money, I'm very impressed.
