Out of respect, I won't mention the officer's name or dept.

As told to me by the officer: Pulled over an individual who decided they didn't want to go to jail. They proceeded to throw the car in reverse striking the officer and ST and throwing them backwards quite a few feet.

Good news: Officer is ok; just a few bruises

Better news: The same officer still managed to take the suspect into custody :bow1:

Tentative News: The ST appears to be mostly cosmetic damage with the exception of the forks which have been bent completely backwards.

Stupid perp... glad the officer is okay... glad the perp didn't get away with it... that bike *really* doesn't look okay... or that it will ever be okay again!

The close up looks pretty bad but I was rather impressed with how little additional damage there was.

Well that was really smart. So the perp went from a traffic violation (assuming no outstanding priors but that's probably not true) to a felony. Nice! Glad the officer is OK and they caught the perp.

Having built ours, I can tell you that the damage doesn't look too bad. Putting on the lights and the crash bars requires taking the side panels off, along with the mirrors, lowers, seat, side panels beneath the seat, the top box and a few other things I've most likely forgotten about by now. It's really hard to tell from the photos, but the forks don't look bent to me. Though it might just be the angle of the pics. It looks like the headlight, front right panel, front fender and the mirror cap and turn signal bit the big one. I'm pretty sure I could have it back in service in a day, unless the forks were bent...Glad the bad guy went to jail, though he'll probably get a slap on the wrist with some comment from the judge like, "If I ever see you back in my courtroom again...". Needless to say, I'm sure there's something like 1,500 judges in his area so the odds of the bad guy ending up in THAT courtroom again is about the same as the bad guy hitting the lottery and getting struck by lighting on the same day...LOL! oh, and bitten by a shark on that day too......LOL!

Hope the "Adam-Henry" goes away for a long time, but knowing the courts, he probably won't.

The forks are definitely bent. :D

Glad the officer is ok, and the BG was nabbed. He needs to go away for a looooong time.

+1 on the LEO. As far as the perp, looks like the Law of Natural Selection will rear its ugly head yet again. How stupid can you get.

Glad the LEO is OK.

If the forks are bent, then there's a danger that the frame could be cracked or deformed in the area around the steering head. You can't tell until the fairing comes off. Otherwise it doesn't look like a lot to repair, although the parts bill would hurt if it came from my pocket.

As for the perp, they should be given a firm beating with the now used fork legs. What made them think they would get away with their four wheeled assault?
