My tent is a little over 20 years old and as bad as I hate to :( I am going to replace it. Does any one use the Eureka Tetragon 5 or 7 .... or Apex 2:)

There are quite a few here with the apex 2.. I have one, I like it a lot.

Here's a handful of tent reviews at MotoCampers.

I have an Apex 2 and a Tetragon 8. I quit using the 2 because I have got to the point of not really enjoying getting dressed on my back. The 8 allows me to stand up and put on my jeans.

That will have to be after campstoc cause I'm taking both tents. Keith from the UK needs a bit of shelter for him and his SO.

I imported this one from Canada:

http://www.gear-up.com/cart_showproduct.php?pid=1532

I'll most likely only use the 2man, but I also purchased a 4 man...haven't used it yet so might put it up for sale...

What I really like about this design is that there is some privacy with the fly off. (IE: It's not all mess on one wall)

As a kid I liked looking through the roof of my tent at the stars at night...I think I can do it with this one and not feel like I am out in the open...

Another reason I picked this one is because it's an ALL CLIP UP tent....almost all of the other tents I considered had some sort of pole sleeve....I hate pole sleeves....

A final reason was the pole configuration....no "pins" to punch the tent while packing. It has rings and the poles hook into these rings...

Check out www.sierratradingpost.com. They have lots of camping stuff as well as clothes, ski equip, biking, runnining, and even some motorcycle stuff. They are great people to deal with.

Since you mentioned the Tetragon 5 as a possibility, I suggest you look at the Eureka Backcounty 2 (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___24920). It is the same floor size (5'x7') yet packs MUCH smaller (15"x6").

If your looking for a taller tent, then I agree with the previous posts. You need to consider pack size, floor space, internal height, and a full coverage rain fly (not some cheap 1/2 fly). Dana makes a good point about all clip style attachment too. The Backcounty has short pole sleeves and some clips.

Campmor (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Home_) is an excellent source for camping gear. +1 on Sierra Trading Post.

I got a lot of use out of my Sierra Reverse Combi last summer and liked the tent.
Good ventilation, packs up small enough (23 x 6 in. 6 lbs and if needed this can be reduced to about 18 inches - the pole length), 2 door access, has a footprint (no tarp needed), full coverage rain fly allows for bag storage outside the tent (extra 2 feet on each side), good privacy with the fly off, all clip style for quick set up and take down, nice inside storage features, and it kept me dry.
Enough height for me (at least I got used to it) - pole design gives a little extra head room at both ends. When the overhead "portable attic" is used it cuts into head space but is useful for overnight drying/airing out socks, etc. and storing stuff you want to be able to find quickly.

Thanks everyone ! I think I am going to check out the Sierra Reverse Combi that Buzz has... so many great tents to choose from now.

I purchased the Eureka Apex 2XTC tent today. It fits in my side bags as well as in the GIVI. I also bought a compression sack for my sleepingbag. What I like about these two items is nothing has to be strapped to the seat, and everything can be locked up.

Okay... so what is "reverse" about the Sierra Reverse Combi tent?

Reverse Combi Technology™
An award winning variable pole diameter system creates close to 50% more livable space
Thicker diameter pole sections are used in the center where strength and stability are needed most
Thinner diameter pre-bent pole sections are used on the ends, creating steeper walls for more livable space than a typical X-tent

When I bought mine 1 1/2 years ago, it was the only "Reverse Combi" and was bundled with the footprint (which I do recommend!), attic and mug holders for under $300 Canadian (about $100 off List price). The same tent is on clearout here http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/322,88451_Sierra-Designs-Reverse-Combi-2-Person-Tent.html without the extras. Looks like Sierra have now put the extra head space design into a number of their tents. The new one similar to mine would be the Asp 2 http://sierradesigns.com/tents.display.php?id=716. The footprint is a $35 option.
