If you are looking for a good deal on the 2 Gig card, check here (currently $143):

There are probably better deals so if anyone knows of one, just post...

Check Pricegrabber too:

Sandisk 2GB CompactFlash, Pricegrabber.com (http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=2378621/search=SanDisk+2GB+CompactFlash)

I think that one is a little cheaper because the UltraII version is becoming more affordable but for GPS the older versions work just as well. I've been using this one for over a year now with no issues. ZipZoomFly is very good and Outpost has been good also to me in the past and reasonable on shipping.

I thought the high speed cards (ultra II) would perform better in the GPS. I know that's the case with my camera. Am I wrong in that assumption?

Yes, you are incorrect. The GPS' processor works at rate "X". The bus to which the Flash memory card is attached has an access rate of "Y". The minimum transfer-rate requirement for the Flash memory card is also "Y". Beyond that there is little to gain, particularly as the amount of data transferred is relatively small.

Marshall is right. The GPS after the initial load has to read very little data while it's in operation. You can tell this if you've used a microdrive because it spins up very little while the GPS is running and tracking.

The video processing takes more time than the flash access and even that is pretty low. A faster card will help in devices like cameras where you want to write 4-5MB of data to the card as fast as you can so you can take the next picture. For the GPS it's mostly just reading the card. Now it may speed up map downloads but if you have a 2GB card you won't really need to do that more than once unless the card barfs.

Be careful Daveman, that ones a Microdrive, not recommended in the 2610 on the bike.
