Howdy Motormen,

Anyone here have any experience with the above drop in trunk box. The advantage is that the trunk opens! Miracle, you say? Yes it does!!! Why Honda requires you to remove at least 8 bolts before you can open the box is beyond me.

What a nice idea, but not inexpensive. It will work as a drop-in replacement, however, will not work on the civi Motor without some bracket replacement and maybe some welding.

Check it out at pvpcom.com
Anyone have one??? They say they have sold some.

Thanks,
Motors

I am interested too! I think I am going to try and get one for our next motor. The only reason I did not fight to get one this time was because I had to have a place to put my police radio and we just put it in the "hump" since you rarely have to get to it. I would prefer to mount my L-3 mobile vision DVR in the above mentioned box. Currently it is in the left side saddle bag and I have no room for anything else in the bag. I think it would be great to free up more storage and keep weight in the center of the bike, also makes for easier service.

If anyone has an experience with this please let us know!

We use the PVP box. It's nice but is WAY too over priced! $500 for a fiberglass box with an unfinished inside and mounting tabs that have to be fiddled with the get "just right". It's decent box but judging this item as a motorcycle enthusiast first and a motorcop second, and on a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 5. If the price was something like $250 then the rating would go up to a 7 or 8. As our second batch of Honda's prepare to arrive I have thought about the box and its' value. I enjoy having the lid because that's where I place my electronic ticket writer and wireless printer. Could I put it in a sidebag, sure and that would save money, but like most of us I've now developed a routine. If I never had the box could I manage around it, again, sure. At first, we even thought about a magnetic tank bag but thought that someone could steal it too easily if we went into a business. Now that would be cheaper too, but just like most agencies, the look wasn't right. Besides, our chief told us to buy everything, then on the next go-around we'd know what was useful and what wasn't. This might be one of those things that might end up on the "wasn't" list. I've asked Honda to make their box an opening one, but that was about the same as if I called President Bush to see if he would fix the health care issue or the price of gas. LOL! Now that the Honda has obviously caught on as a police bike I think more companies will get involved making farkels. There are even companies making plug-n-play wire harness' now. check out www.st1300p.com, Unitrol is making a siren with a wire harness that allows this too. The first time was hard, the next go will be much faster. Also, Federal Signal is revamping their motorcycle line for this summer. Now everything they market is geared towards the H-D line. As the number of Honda's and BMW's grow I think the major companies will design stuff for this style of bike. After all, they sell the stuff in Europe. Our Federal Signal guy is bringing by the Sputnik 300 series lighthead made by their European counterparts.

Our department bought one for our bike. So far it is working great. I was able to put my Safety Vision digital camera system and the base for my Decatur radar inside it. It is kind of tight inside as far as room, but it is working good for us.
