View Full Version : Though I would say Hi
Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed this forum. I've been following your board for about 7 months now. Last year I purchased a Kawi Z1000 (thought I would try something other than a cruiser and the Z1000 caught my eye). After 8000 miles of body slamming wind, I figured it was time to get a bike that was both functional and looked great. Last summer I pasted a guy that was driving this eye catching bike made by Honda. After some digging I discovered that it was a 2003 ST1300. I spend the winter researching the ST and the FJR, and finally bit the bullet two weeks ago and purchased the ST. 1500 miles later all I can say is WOW...worth every penny! As much as I have read about this bike...the ride is even better than I expected! I am really looking forward to putting another 1500 on it over the next two weeks and hope to take it to the mountains this summer

Welcome to a noobie from the GWN. I'm sure you'll come to like her even more as you become more familiar with the ST. Enjoy the new bike and ride safe. :beer3:
Joe C.,
After my last bike died, (CX500, Aero fairing and soft bags), I figured
that that was it, no more bikes.... Well, after about a year, my wife told
me she was tired of hearing me whine about not having a bike, and to go
out and get one so she could have some peace and quiet (truth of the
matter is, she loved to ride also, and missed it dearly). I went down to
the Honda shop (hmmm sounds like a line from a song). to the Harley
dealer (gasp) and the "local" BMW dealer (60 miles away)... Looked at
the Gold Wing, the more I looked, the bigger it got, it just was not for me.
The Harley? Well, fired one up, and remembered why I was not too fond of
big V-twins.. Even with all the improvements, there was STILL quite a bit
of vibration... The Beemers... Nice bikes, but dealerships are "generally" few
and far between (besides, some of the web sites had "horror" stories about
rear end problems and brakes)... Went back to the Honda shop and saw this
Silver thing sitting right next to the Wing I was looking at originally. Noticed
it was a bit smaller, and the price tag was somewhat less than the wing...
Talked to the dealer, and he did not know too much about the 1300, thought
it was more of a "California" bike... So I started gathering all the info that I
could on the 1300... Found out that the 04 standard was going to have
the adjustable windshield, and it was only gonna be a couple of months before
the order dates were be there, so I waited a couple of months and ordered an 04... I also looked at the FJR, but I just liked the Honda a bit more.. Maybe
brand loyalty?, I really don't know, but I DO know that it is the best bike
decision that I personally have ever made.... I have about 14k Smiles (yup,
smiles) on the bike and have no regrets... none, nada, zilch, zip
Ride Long and Prosper,
Putt...

Hey!!! you saying that we crap through feathers???
Putt...
I looked at the wing also (did alot of touring on a Silverwing in the mid 80's ... even had the wife's blessing to buy!), but I liked the handling of the sport bike...just wanted a bit more comfort (not 20 any more!). I was leaning towards the honda over the FJR...took a look at the red ST online...contest over and the rest is, as they say, history!

JoeC! - Hey there from another Regina rider - not a lot of us in the province and even fewer in the Queen city - freaked me out - I used to ride a Silver Wing as well and now have an ST - coincidence? hmmm
I live in Lakewood and am always looking for another to ride with - kind of gets boring riding with the Valk gang - they just don't get it sometimes. Drop me a line and we'll hook up - of course, blue in front :)

Mick,
I've seen the blue ST driving around our end a few times this spring...was kind of jealous until the dealer call to tell me mine was finally in!
