*((&*%#34.... I wish I would have known about this sooner... That is
one trip I have always wanted to take... Was on Rt 66 when I was a kid,
took a vacation to California with my folks... I remember
the WigWam Motel... Last trip was back in the mid 60's, I-40
was just about all completed, but there were still stretches of 66
that were being in use.....

The group arrives in Ontario, CA on the evening of the 17th. We are going to meet at the Santa Monica Pier on the 18th at about 7:30am for pictures and good-byes and then go our own ways.

Have a great ride James. I have ridden the Chicago end (in the daylight  ), the mid-point (Adrian TX) and the Santa Monica end. Some day I'll do the reST :)

Hey guys, I will be in Williams AZ early for the HOG rally so I will not have my STeed, but will be on my V-Rod. It would still be great to meet up if you know when you will be there.

I think the stretch in AZ is the olny real, accessible piece of Route 66 left right ? ... the one with Roy's and so on ? ... man, this is definitely on the list of things to do before I can't ride no more. :biker:

Horst,
Suprisingly, there is a lot of the "original" RT 66 left than can be traveled on.
There are several good websites that have maps and directions for following
the (there were many) different routes that 66 took over the years.. Do a web search on "RT66". Illinois and Missouri have a fair share of the original road,
Kansas (just a small stretch of 66 traversed the S.E. corner of the state),
Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexoco, and Arizona all have sections of the original route that can still be traveled... A good portion of the route is marked with
"Historic Route 66" signs.

I WILL make the journey some day..
