My wife and I are coming from Calgary to attend part of HOOT and all of EaSTOC. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I need to buy and pack some MiniDV tapes for the camcorder to film some roads with the tip over wing cam. How many tapes do I need to bring? How many hours of video tape will I need to get all the good stuff in the area?

Tim

So far my planned route has us riding 2 up with camping gear over 20+ States and 3 Provinces. Anyone else done 2 up camping with the 1300?

Actually Carl....I can't even ride there (well, not all the way). My wife has family in South Carolina and wants to go visit with them so I'm loading the bike ON A TRAILER :( and getting in the car with my wife and 3 kids :box1: for the ride down to South Carolina. Then the rest of the family is gonna let me leave them there and I'll be riding to EaSTOC from there. Not quite as dramatic.

Tim... there are so many roads in that area that are great... It would be great to watch on of your videos of deals gap... but, you'd probably want to do it during the week... if possible.

Doing a group ride to Stecoah (sp?) from Maryville on Thur (23rd). Leaving from Star05 in Lexington, KY. Doing the Hoot ride to the Wheels of Time museum in Waynesville, NC on Friday. Gonna be a nice week on the bike by myself.

Come on, it's only a couple of days off for you.
I was trying to figure out the best route to get up there. Mobile maybe. Probably haul *** up I59 from Slidell as far as I can stand, then hit the back roads. Any suggestions.

Mike,

You might try coming over to Mobile on I10 and following this route up,
http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newaddr=&taddr=&csz=semmes%2Cal&country=us&tcsz=stecoah%2Cnc&tcountry=us

Coming to Mobile is only about 10 miles further than this route,
http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newaddr=&taddr=&csz=scott%2Cla&country=us&tcsz=stecoah%2Cnc&tcountry=us
And I guarantee you'll like the road conditions in Alabama better than those through Mississippi.

I've been up 441 into the Smokies before and it's a pretty good road for fast transit. I65 between Atmore and Montgomery is the most boring road you'll ever ride but it gets you there in a hurry.

The object is to get there through Alabama and Georgia as quick and painless as possible and then go for the good roads once you reach the mountains, right?

OK if you're actually gonna' ride your STeed all the way up, I'll see if I can't work out an escape somehow to ride with you.

But I am riding out for EaSTOC early Thursday am with Denny Dury from IL. We are taking backroads down to Iron Horse. Shoot me an email if you are interested in riding down with us.

You know us better than I thought you did. We've done lots of adverturous traveling (scenic views mandatory) over the past 20-25 yrs, and motorcycle riding and trips for almost 2 years now. We certainly know lots of awesome places and roads (have gazateers/maps and info). Join us sometime........
I won't make this trip. Mike want's to do the guy thing and carry camping gear on the bike, which we haven't figured out how to do 2-up (maybe if we updated our ancient backpacking gear). Soooo, Mike just bought me a used BMW R1100RT (lowered) so I can carry my share of the gear once my skills and endurance improve . (Wow!! What an eye opener after riding a Rebel for just a short while.) Hopefully by this fall we can make a couple of short trips....

Allypurp,

I see you're up early again this morning. Hope you got a decent rest yesterday, sorry I woke you up calling Mike.

It was great news hearing about your bike and your future plans with camping trips. With Mike laying down the work-a-day routine next year we'll never be able to catch the two of you at home.

We intend to arrive by ironhorse at the Ironhorse late Wed. afternoon after a grueling, torturous 2 hour ride (If I take it easy and go all-scenic) from home.

Sam, Why don't you leave out Wed. morning and come over to my house, then we'll ride over together?
