I'm too beat to process the photos I have yet, or write much. I just wanted to say Dawn and I are home safe and start a place where the guys can say they are back OK, and post any pictures they may have also.
I will say we are pretty sure ST-Owners.com had the biggest group all coming in to NESTOC together, and The weekend was simply the best of the very best of times. We ran up Friday as a group with the subgroups meeting in my area.
While I heard a few other groups complaining they had boring rides that weren't so hot, our group got together again Saturday and simply had a blast on miles of good roads with some absolutely superb twisties and elevation changes, along with just stunning scenery. We spent 99% of the time blissfully riding rather than snapping photos, but we have a few photos between us I'm sure. Much of the best stuff was just soaked up in the flow of the ride.
Even though it's bedtime so I have to cut this short, I want to say, our hats are off to each and every one of you who spent the weekend riding with Dawn and I. Good riders all. Not only was the area very enjoyable, but the guys from ST-owners.com turned out to be truly wonderful, warm, enjoyable, people and outstanding new riding friends.
I can't say strongly enough, or enough times, that Dawn and I had the very best of times, and that goodness was made by each and every one of you that we rode and spent time with. We thank You.
The people here at ST-owners.com are indeed a special "good friends" sort.
Some of the guys went on to other riding areas, rather than home, so they probably aren't back yet.
I'll get a few of the pictures Dawn and I took up in the next day or two.

AWESOME, I can't remember when I've had that much fun, the guys and gals in our group became instant friends, we're already looking forward to next years NESTOC so we can get together again, and thank you Carl for leading the group, it was fast enough to be fun but still be able to enjoy the sceanery.
The roads we ran rocked, sweepers, hairpins, up, down, there's nothing even close to roads like that in my neck of the woods, I'm not sure who to thank for mapping out the routes for this event, but my hats off to you. :bow1:
I just got in an hour ago,2 pm Monday, I was too tired to make it all the way home Sunday, I'll post again when my mind is in gear

Oh,.. you guys with yur fancy digital cameras! I just dropped off a roll of film from the weekend (shut up!) I had them throw the pics on cd for me. I guess I'll have to wait to see what I took for pictures. I'd like to give a shout out to all my riding peeps. The weekend was truely one of the best times I've had in a long time. It's awesome when the riding and weather is top notch, but add to that all the people I had the pleasure of riding with and it just doesn't get any better!!
BTW: Scott,.. your pictures are killing me!
Ride safe everyone... hope to ride with you all again someday.

Eddie, post a few of those bellows camera pics. when you get them, I hope Sunday was good riding also. Steve and M. accompanied us down to the Papacton and we did the whole loop this time, before heading back home. It was as much fun the second time around and the other section had it's own cool character.

Hi Peter,
It's in Connecticut in Sept. Georgeorge's (AKA Brian) family owns a GREAT campground that I am seasonal camper at. He has reserved a bunch of campsites basically right in front of my site.
There are a couple of message threads on it for more background along with a link to the Campground's website..
1st link is on the homepage where the STOC count downs are..Next there is the original thread called 'Camping in CT'
Here is the link..

So far we are the magnificent 7...If you decide to join us we'll have to call it the 'Great 8!'

If you go to the home page and look at the countdown list on the left... I will always place a list of STOC events for the year there and will cycle off as the event is passed. I'll also add any future events and links to information there.

Yah, them Birthday guys think they are so special they'll eat cake about anyplace, and any number of times too. Next thing you know they'll be thinking family should give them presents and stuff. Come to think of it, I use Birthdays as an excuse to buy myself something cool. It's a National obsession I tell ya... your own Holiday, hrumphhh.
It was kind of fun going on a Birthday ride with Bones. :)
Oh yeah, you sure that was a photo of a tractor and not a stealth picture of the new 06 Hardley Ableson being road tested in remote NY?

Sunday Peter, Eddie and I headed up RT30 towards Vermont to meet up with Greg and Paul. Beautiful road, no pictures, sorry. After meeting on a gorgeous section of RT4, Peter and Eddie went their separate ways home. Greg and Paul guided me along the legendary RT100 of Vermont (need a drool smiley). The road was a little rough but the scenery and the sweepers were most excellent (whoops no pictures here :o: ). Paul left us as we continued onto RT112 into NH. Greg led me in some fairly spirited riding onto RT118. Again a little rough but what twisties and sweepers (need a drool smiley). Again great company and warmth, thanks Greg and Paul :bow1: :bow1: :bow1: .

Fortunately My Birthday buzzed by in May already, so I won't have to rob Fort Knox to feed you voracious buggars until next year :D The big 60 next year, man that is just too wierd. If I'm lucky enough to get too old for two wheels (in a couple-three decades), I'll just have to get a sidecar rig.

The Good-
NH roads and restaurants are excellent (Pegs in Lincoln and Frannies on RT3- breakfast Nirvana). Rode around Mt Washington only to find the road was closed to motorcycles (54 mph crosswinds) . It was still a spectacular ride :) . We road the Kancamagus several times with its awesome views, zen-like sweepers and a hairpin turn that was created in heaven. Had to do Rt118 again, even in the rain, thanks again Greg :bow1: !!
The Bad-
A good friend of the one of the guys in the group had traded his 1600cc cruiser for an 800cc cruiser because he couldn't handle the larger bike. Guess what, he can't handle the smaller bike either. He is the stellar example of a poser. Sell the bike and stick to cages, please!!
The Really Ugly-
A**hole almost got himself, his best friend and me killed by a highballing construction truck cause he won't lean his bike and takes turns ever sooo slowly. I slowed to 25mph in a 55mph zone to wait for him. I will not ride with him again! I was almost gratefull for the clutch problem and the slightly ill guy who had to ride to Americade. Clutch was enough of a worry that I skipped Americade.
The ride home was excellent, though I noticed the tailbox did make the ST more susceptible to truck wash at high speed.
John, glad to see the STead out front where it should be...
Come on up anytime man... no posers here! Glad you liked 118, that's one of my favorites.
Bones
06-10-2005, 09:01 AM
Turn a motorcycle without leaning? I expect our friend physics will have a say in that. ( :shout1: Countersteer, man, or you will fall over!)
Some people just don't get two wheels. Get the guy a Motorclothes catalog so he can pose from the safety (our safety) of his own home.
Besides, John, you don't have to ride with him -- you can ride with us!
:mcrider: (Lean to the left, lean to the right, lean that ST -- out of sight!)

Leo,
There were 55 listed bikes (a good number 2 up) and some more showed up and stayed in other Hotels. I think there is a pic or two of the parking lot washing area behind the Hotel, but there were some other bikes parked all around the Hotel, Dawn and I included.
listening to so many other bikes that sound just like yours was a bit eerie but cool :D
I was told by someone checking it out that our forum was the largest group hooking up before the event to ride in together. We met a smaller group riding up at the Sunoco Station we gassed up at, in New Paltz (the central start point where everyone was finally present), but they had their own rout up and wanted to stick to it.
I would not be the least bit surprised to find out there were larger groups formed up Fri. night for Sat. riding though. However our size was most excellent as it did not interfere with riding similar to "the pace", and everyone could ride well causing it to be a smooth, safe weekend.
We also used a riding arrangement/agreement that allowed leeway for individual differences within the group so no one needed to feel they had to push themselves too far, and everyone still had an opportunity to enjoy themselves within the group. Everyone stuck to that plan from what I could see in my mirrors, and from my observations it seemed to work well, and I've not heard feedback to the contrary.
John made an excellent sweep man as well, and he said his view was awesome coming off the long mountain down hills, where he could see us all stretched out and winding down.
So, I would not be surprised to see pictures of larger groups, though I doubt we’d find one our size that worked out better overall both in riding and in friendship.

06-10-2005, 09:43 AM
Wow John,
Your experience points out how a severe mismatch can become a serious group problem, I guess the clutch thing was not all bad after all. You missed out on some Aderondack/Americade riding, but from your pictures you didn't really miss out at all.
:mcrider: (Lean to the left, lean to the right, lean that ST -- out of sight!)
me like poem :)
We will have to torture Eddie some time, ride up his way together and check out those Roads John liked.
HEY! maybe Eddie can do the pig roast instead! That's IT!!!!!! Pig roast at Eddie's :pig1: :D (Eddie, sorry man I now "I suck", but I gotta find a way out from under this pig roast thingie somehow).

A finer group of riders I have never met. Although the roads were challenging at times and scenic always, it is the people I met on this trip that will be most memorable. I must thank you all especiallythe ladies for helping me to introduce Elaine to the joy of group riding. She enjoyed this trip so much that she is already asking when we leave for our next trip, even after a 1000 mile weekend. My butt on the other hand waited until Tuesday to mount up again. Eddie I ordered the Corbin today. John, what can I say you got spoiled riding with a special group. may we meet again. Always lurking.

STan, it was a pleasure having you and Elaine along with us. We were kinda sore also, but hopefully the new Sargent seat will take care of that.
It looks like we'll have to schedule the NH VT ride around the CONSTOC camping event already in the planning. What are the usual riding temperature ranges in NH and VT during Sept? It's gonna be hard to figure how to stow camping gear and cloths for 2 people.
As for CONSTOC camping, Dawn and I may see if we can ride down early morning for a day ride and head back home. I'll have to check on the practicality of that though.
