OK, I started this over on a local website to me and I thought it might be a lot more interesting with a much larger group and area, plus there are a lot of LD riders that just might like this.

Here we go!

I am going to try to make the rules and CLEAR as possible. ;)

Photo Tag

1. Take a photo of your bike near a landmark, sign, etc... You can include some clues with the photo. If you are using a geograpical landmark, it must be EASY to identify.

2. Ride to that location and take a picture of your bike there. The first person to tag the location with a photo gets to put up the next photo of their bike at another location*.

* You must post the new location immediately following your 'tag' pic to keep the game going.*
NO NEW PIC MEANS THE CURRENT TAG IS STILL AVAILABLE

3. If no one is getting the location, you can give more and more clues, but can't give out the actual location. Saying what the location is without a picture of your bike there is just not cool.

4. I don't think we need to define a play zone. If someone can get their bike from one country to another before someone else gets the TAG, so be it!

5. When you post your new TAG location make sure to define the previous location so that everyone knows where it was.

PHOTOSHOP and Archived Photos are not allowed as they are not in the spirit of the game of Tag!

I will start the whole deal with an example and I did this just a couple days ago, so it is not archived! (I reversed the order from my site to make it easier.)

Here is the thread on my site to give you an example. Someone here may want to clear up the thread as the next TAG gets taken.

Click here for example! (http://southwestrides.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=9974)

We play that game on "two wheeled Texans", but its a lot easier when everone on the web site is from the "local" area. This may be more difficult on a national level.

Rob, Good idea. One that is catching. Another guy in New England posted on a local board but restricted locations to NE. It's a lot better than playing phone tag.

How about we make this a state-wide contest?

Have one for each state. Makes it a more active contest.

The posts can be in the regional sections.

we play this exact same game on our board, ... i think we're up to 20+ pages and its only been 3 weeks, we play it that its 3 hours max from in town... since its local...

perhaps you can modify the rulings to say that if you happen to have a pic within 500 miles of your spot then you're good to go ?

Rob Hephner
06-02-2008, 05:28 PM
I don't care about the playground, just having fun with it elsewhere and thought it would be fun here as well!

As it is the site is in AZ, so someone should tag and go. ;)

Okay, just named it AZ-Tag. Anyone can play if you happen to be in AZ and get the pic.. Now, we just need someone to post from other states. That should open it up better.. great idea.

You guys really need to get this going. :toot1:

Bob owns a tag in the SoCal but you guys are barely off the ground. Is it that you've received more participation from other states/geographical areas than in your own back yard? :(

You guys should be leading the pack with all the STs in the Phoenix area! :please1:

Ok, I could not leave well enough alone. If the night shots are not acceptable I understand, had fun playing, a great ride & got to watch the lightning show to the north.

First shot is Tom's Tag at the big red barn. I could only get the sign & part of the barn on this dark eve, but I think the location is verifiable.

ok, my turn. Had a great ride to eat this morning. Met my Sister & Wife at the Kofa Café, for the breakfast special & fresh Squeezed OJ.

Since I had to ride right past Tom's tag....

The picture on the ST seat is a print of Tom's tag. Since the Kofa was just a little too far from Yuma, the new tag is the ST Cabin. It's actually the Famous old "Stone Cabin" located on hwy 95.

I was thinking I might have to go to the KOFA cafe for a piece of pie, you saved me 50 miles, Bob!:)

That shot at Fishers Landing is right spot on. I didn't work that hard at the guns, just figured which one and got it:) I was going to back up, the road was busy and I didn't want to get flattened.

Ohh, I went up toward the Castle Dome museum, you don't want to ride that road right now. Freshly graded, it is loose about 2" and all the way across. Tough slugging. I made it about 1 mile or the 10. Did see a next generation Predator, though....little bitty thing.

AzDesertRider
09-14-2008, 11:48 AM

I can see AZ's shortest tag coming up...

Scenario:
Bob rides to KofA with BT for pie, and then Bob rides along with BT to BT's next tag location.
While BT is getting his tag picture Bob surreptitiously takes picture of his own bike at BT's site then leaves BT to get new site.
BT posts, Bob posts a microsecond later... :D

Excellent job Bryan! Glad to see that the AZ tag is again on the move. You have a ways to go to catch up to the SoCal guys, but you're leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else playing the game. :hat1:

We had to institute a continuous movement strategy to keep those Yuma guys away from our SoCal tag so I can sympathize with you on keeping it away from them. Good luck with that. I'm not convinced you're going to be successful. Those guys love to ride and a 500 mile day is child's play to them. Sorry George, I didn't mean to cross you up. As you know from Rick's BBQ though, that if I didn't get that tag, Bob (SupraSabre) was right behind me on that one. If I didn't get it, he would have. For some odd reason, my wife seems to think that I should give others a chance to get it first..... I don't think she understands this game. The absolute best scenario is meeting someone at the tag spot, shaking hands and wishing the other good luck on beating the other to post, then riding like a bat out of h3ll to the next tag spot and home to post!

Anyway, best of luck on the AZ tag for whoever gets it next! :bow1:

I would think that the basic requirement would be the new tag location you set is attainable (by most riders) on an ST. I already got in trouble for posting a tag that required a short ride on loose gravel

TAG!! Took off for Winslow this morning about 10. Did old 66 thru Seligman then slabbed to the corner.38521

The wall with the murals was attached to a building which burned several years ago. Here's the current back side.38522

And here's the start on the expanded park, supposed to be completed in time for the 2009 fall festival. 38523

Now, I actually have multiple choices for the new tag. I'm gonna put this one up and see if we get any takers. Be aware, it involves 16 miles of dirt/gravel road with considerable washboard. Also, I suggest getting there during early afternoon when the road is most likely dry. I ran into a few damp spots today and there's a high clay content.

385253852438526

The monument was just added on September 20 this year but should provide a couple important clues.

I rode 629 miles today (already added to my total. Did old 66, had a chili dog in Seligman, got the pic in Winslow, then rode on AZ 99 headed south. Never been on that road before. Very ranch-land, flat, few features, too many antelope and too many open range cows., Got a few more good pics on the way, along the Mogollon Rim:
38528 38529

These don't really have anything to do with the Tag, just purty pics.

Mark, the fish hatchery is on the south end, I went in and out from the north end this time.

Nice thing about the south end was the sign that said, "Pavement Ends 500 Feet" but it continued for several more miles, went to dirt, went back to pave. then to dirt, then to pave _again!_ It'll keep ya off balance, but gives a break in the pucker factor accassionally. :D

Ooops. I hope I didn't give anything away:) Or more likely, please somebody, put us out of our misery....

I was on the Wing pulling a trailer. Did the Dempster Highway with a similar combination, so if I had found the area, I would have got there and back. I haven't been on a gravel road that was any worse than the Dempster.

I think it sits right there until somebody other than you goes for it George...

A long winter (yeah, right!) of looking for pleasant valley weather... :D

Yep, it sits until someone goes and gets it. Isn't there some YOUNG person who could do this?????
(in case anyone missed BigTom's post)

Since I'm out of the Pony Express due to holiday timing, I might be able to make it up there on my way back from LA after Turkey Day, if no one's managed by then.

I mentioned above about doing the Salt River Canyon, but I also did US 70 from NM to Globe. Many things I learned about AZ on that road. Previously I had no idea the amount of cotton grown in that valley around Safford. Also, I would really like to go back to Duncan as it seems a unique little town with many tag possibilities. So, even though I didn't get George's tag, I had a great time in AZ yesterday. And I may still end up in Pleasant Valley.

It's a great place. Particularly if you like Gold Mining, Lumbering and Ranching. That'd be the three primary pursuits there. You get through Young, you will know why they call them 'fat cattle':)

Stop in at "The Antlers". Not bad food, but pretty spectacular pies.

Tom, think the usual AZ RTE crowd would be up for lunch at The Antlers in December if the weather holds?

OK, Zonies, I'm headed for Kerrville TX tomorrow and have to go through AZ easterly bound. How cold will it be and is there any chance of snow on that there dirt road???. Aw heck if I can ride in dirt, I can ride in snow. Dang, am I going to have to do Salt River Canyon AGAIN???!!! And go through Duncan again???
