Thanks to those who responded on my 'tailbone' question. Now that I've decided on the Sargent seat - I have another question for those in the group with Sargents.

On the stock seat, my wife (on the back) will slide into me if I am too agressive on the brakes. She wears Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0 pants which I think probably makes it worse.

Is there any difference between the Griptex or CarbonFX seat from a sliding perspective? They are both textured, with the Griptex being more so. I'd like to pick the one that will keep the sliding into me at a minimum, yet not be really hard for her to move around on the back seat.

Suggestions?
Thanks.
Bob.

I doubt anyone has tried both, but I have found that the CarbonFX to be quite grippy.

I have the carbon fx. I have never seen the griptex let alone have the opportunity to try it. I can tell you my wife wearing First Gear overpants slides into me on occasion. I'm not saying it's a bad thing.

When I ordered my seat the saleman pointed me toward the CarbonFX. The Griptex really sticks you to the seat and makes it hard for you move around from what the salesman has to say. The CarbonFX has worked well for me. :)

Sargent also sets up the pillion seat with a rise in the front to level the seat out more, that also reduces the effect.

I had a Corbin on my Duck and it was covered with carbonfiber stamped leather-it was ok-didn't like the Corbin. Bought a Sargent-griptex for my '05 ST. Love the Sargent and the griptex cover is nice. Took a short trip last week to Vancouver BC-1100m one way. Rain-cold and 600m on the first day-this seat is perrrfect. I think the pattern of the griptex prevents rain from causing sliding when you don't want to. It should also be cooler in the summer-same reason. I also like the traditional look-saw the same pattern on a Ducati 850 and the seat (Sargent) was well weathered but holding up very well.
