View Full Version : Schroeder's Honda in Hendersonville NC
Anyone have any experience with this dealership's service department?
I had a great trip in the Smokies a couple of weeks ago. Cherohala Parkway was stunning! It was a great trip until I misjudged my speed on what turned out to be a hairpin turn (no road sign warning me, unfortunately). I just couldn't hold the turn and slid into the ditch, slammed myself into an embankment.
Bruised my ego a bunch and was pretty banged up, but nothing broken. On me, that is. The bike needs a lot of work.
Anyway, the bike is at this dealership waiting on an estimate for repairs. I live in the Atlanta suburbs and so, want to have a dealership work on it that will get it right the first time, so I do not have repeat 3 hour drives.
Or, I may have it towed to Atlanta area. Anyone have recommendations for a shop in the Atlanta area?
Thanks for your input.

I haven't had any crash damage repaired there, but they do any maintenance that I can't do myself and I've been satisfied to date. Is your bike a 2007 ST? I saw one come in on a rollback while I was at Schroaders 2 or 3 weeks ago. Good Luck in the future, there are as you know 2 kinds of riders: those who have been down and those who haven't. As long as you're OK the bike can be fixed.. I've crashed before and still love riding.

They have a decent reputation. Katherine, the owner, is an old school businesswoman that understands shoddy work sends the wrong message. You should be okay.

I haven't had much for repair work done there, just a front brake replacement on my Gold Wing; I called and they got me in and out in no time. They are always busy and have been very helpful to me.
If ya need anything, give me a yell, I'm just down the road from them (40 minutes).

Bought my 08A from them in March. After contacting many dealers in my area Schroeder’s came through just as they said. Not to mention the great deal, but I flew out there on just a telephone call. My bike was waiting for me upon arrival and paperwork took no time at all. My shipper canceled out on me at the last minute but Katherine didn’t care about storing my bike for a day or two until I could arrange another shipper. I’d trust them with anything.

KAJ the ditch is better than the alternative on some of those Cherohala cliff side roads.
When you're back on the road come ride with the N GA Motorcycle Club.

Thanks to all for your comments and kind words. When something like this happens, its scares the you know what out of you. I really wondered if I should be riding a motorcycle, just was disappointed in myself that I could not navigate the turn.
Lanman1203- I'll bet that was my bike that you saw at the dealership.

Hendersonville, NC is a LOOOOONNNNNNGGGG way from the Cherohala... Just where was that hairpin turn that got you?
P.S. Glad you're ok... I'm only interested because I'll be up that way in a couple of weeks... :D

There's a few reducing radius curves that will bite you if you don't pay attention.
The worst has a faded SLO painted on the road. If you are heading east pay attention to this warning. It's easy to be distracted by the view just as the curve tightens up.
You don't want to have to be Life flighted from up there.

Just bought my 07 from them 2 weeks ago. I don't have experience with their service dept, but the dealership has been around many, many years and has a good reputation for fair dealing. Hope all turns out well for you.
As said previously, the dealership is a family affair. Most employees are family members. The "grandmother" did my paperwork, the granddaughter my financing, and the grandson (in college) was my salesman. They have an interest in seeing you satisfied.
In response to ChipSTer's post. Thought I would respond here so everyone might be aware of the location of this turn.
I took the Blueridge Parkway east out of Maggie Valley. Exited on 276 going south toward Brevard. The turn is probably within a mile or two. A visual on Google Earth really got my attention.
I didn't mention earlier, but anothe rider went down about 15 feet behind where I ended up, within 5 minutes of my accident. He was OK, bike bent up a little, too.
So, it is definitely a curve to be wary of.

I would move to Hendersonville because of Schroeders if I could! Terry has been so great to my husband and I for years.
