Well Folks I m now a member of the tip over club..doing about 2 mph tried to pull in the right highway wing just before I stopped and my pant leg got caught on the peg..As i was going over I thought ..I can handle this (all168 lbs of me) so I held on for dear life..got about 2 degrees past center and was holding for all of 2 seconds and the rest as they say is history. I am personally sending a letter to Mr. Honda's engineering team for buiding these bikes with tip over bars..the only damage was a small scrape on the bottom on the plastic wing cover, which I sanded off and put some black ink on it to cover it up.
Now for the good news..as the bike is going over I cant get my right foot away because I'm trying to hold it up..so as it hits the road my foot is kind of caught under there. I pull it out and feel a little pain in my big right toe. On my steel tipped Wal Mart boot is a cut about an inch long right about where the steel ends..the steel stopped my toe from being mashed..because it was a little off the end of the steel I caught a little bit of the weight. I'm fine.
As much as you people on here say ATGATT I am a firm believer in it..it was 93 on the temp gauge today and I had my Joe Rocket padded jacket on, helmet, steel tipped boots, heavy duty jeans, gloves etc. Was it hot..YES..was it worth it..YES.
This was for all intent and purposes a stopped tip over and a pair of 25 dollar boots probably saved me a trip to the ER for a foot injury. Please be careful out there.
I'm sure Fred will be sending me a present very soon. Ride Safe.:06biker: :06biker:
