In the morning Don Seedsman, from Melbourne, Au and I will head out in pursuit of Motormac with the hope of catching up to him at Dawson City, YT during D2D. Don is my co-pilot and is receiving on-the-job training as a hack pilot, as we go! We will try to post to this thread as often as we can. Our route will take us through the Badlands of South Dakota, to Yellowstone and then points north and west. We hope to stop in Kamloops, BC to visit with the folks at Side Effects who modified the fork on the ST. Until later

We are now in Wall, SD, only around 4,000 miles behind Mac. We have encountered heavy storms, constant winds, rain & hail in the Badlands. Tonight we are in a motel with wifi. Hope to see Mt. Rushmore tomorrow and head for Yellowstone. We may or may not make D2D. Hack is running well but gas mileage is running from 21 to 30 mpg, a headwind is a real problem! The Bunkhouse trailer stood up to some really high winds and is doing great! Who knows where we will be tomorrow night?

It appears that Mac passed us somewhere on either 16 or 37. He may not have recognized us as a motorcycle, we are covered in mud from end to end! We by-passed Steward/Hyder due to rain.

A recap, we made the Badlands, skipped Yellowstone, spent 2 days in Kamloops, BC for a mod to the hack's steering, great improvement! We contacted Downtown Dick at the hotel in Dawson City and he is holding our t shirts. Weather has slowed us, since we now go where the wind blows us we don't worry about making any certain number of miles each day. If it is raining when we get up we stay put until it stops. We do ride in the rain but try not to start out in the rain.

Tonight we are in Watson Lake in an expensive dump! At least it has wifi! BTW, my long johns have certainly come in handy!

Will post more as we go, this is an all summer long trip!

Gene, you must have been off the road or I was taking my shower and drying clothes in Deese Lake cause I looked at every vehicle that I met on 37 and 1. Glad Dick agreed to hold the shirts! I talked to the guys that were passing them out and because of the controversy of the 2 different shirts, they weren't sure Dick would hold them, and I hadn't heard from you since SD. Glad you guys are OK. Rubber down. Mac

Mac, I have to assume you are at home by now. This posting while on the road has been a real chore! We are now in Fairbanks and hope to get a new rear tire tomorrow or the next day. Trip has been great, we camped north of the Artic Circle and rafted down the Kenai river, what could be greater! We will probably let the wind blow us out of Alaska, back into Canada before too long. We will then point the hack at Nova Scoita and hope for the best. I am approaching 1,000 pictures and my buddy, Don Seedsman is about at the same number! I will try to post again and I really miss my Mac!!

PS: The Lil Bunkhouse is performing like a champ, as is the ST.:usflag1::aussie1:

We passed 11,000 miles yesterday. Bike, sidecar & camper trailer holding up well, only minor problems. Tomorrow we will be stopping at a friends home in Woodville, Ont. After visiting 2 or 3 other folks in Ont. we will head for Halifax, the Prince Edward Island and thence back into the US. We hope to be at a rally in Amish country (around Lewisberg, Pa) by the 14-16 of August. After that a visit with my son and one more friend of Don's and back into Murfreesboro around the 25th of August. We can only guess but the total mileage may be 14,000/16,000.

Today we are in Nepean, Ont. We will be into Quebec tomorrow and the next day headed for Halifax. When we reach Halifax we will have crossed Canada from west to east, counting Alaska and Nova Scotia we will have crossed 6 time zones and probably around 13,000 miles since leaving home. By the time we get back to the Boro in Tennessee we may top 15,000. We left home on June 7th and expect to get back the 23-25 of August, almost 80 almost or maybe ovre 80 days on the road, 97% camping
