All those screws that have to come out to access the air filter.
I must of tightened the rear screw too much, too often.
The dang thing stripped the plastic threads.
It still goes in and holds a little.
All the other screws seem to be fine.
But is there a fix for stripped plastic threads?

Try a little teflon tape on the screw, and if that does not get it tight enough try some supper glue in the hole, then retap the hole with the screw. I use the teflon tape trick on my wind shield mount covers.

Good talking to you this afternoon.

ETA: If Chuck's suggestion doesn't work (and if you have grip at all, it probably will)...

If the screw isn't holding, you've stripped away too much material. Replacing the housing is one option (not cheap at about $70), but you might be able to reconstitute the threads:

Using a toothpick or a skinny bit of wire, measure the depth of the hole.
Fill the hole with epoxy or a filler that will bond with polypropylene plastic and wait for it to set.
Drill a pilot hole about 1/2 to 2/3 the diameter of the screw hole to the same depth as you measured before (or just a little less).
Run the screw in and cut new threads.

You really don't have a whole lot to lose if it doesn't work; you still have a hole that doesn't hold a screw.

Get some JB Weld, fill in the hole, redrill and tap. Usually found at most auto parts stores, sometimes at Wally World.

Hmmm... I wonder if you could MELT some of the same type of plastic, pour/place it into the hole and then put the screw in place (wouldn't take but a pinch of melted plastic)... anybody ever do that???
