Is it a Dairy Queen? About the only town I can even think of is Anza, and that looks way more developed than I remember.

Sorry, yes...the location is a Dairy Queen. I've edited the original post. Since I've given the road it's located on and the fact that the road isn't that long, I won't specify the actual location. Have fun on the road and keep your eyes open for it. :D

FWIW, I don't think this is suppose to be a mystery game where you have to find the location, I think you're suppose to post the location, the idea is to get someone else to ride out there and get a picture of their bike in the same location then post a new one.

HINT: I just did a ride report and told this location. The only hard part might be the location of the bike as this is frrom an intersection.

Capt. was trying to be funny not critical. Hope that my comments didn't offend. I'm not going to get out there today and tomorrow starts the work week. Maybe next weekend, I'll have to see what the wife has planned.
Everyone have fun with this one, no matter how you choose to get there, it's going to be a good ride!

Ok, this isn't really all that difficult, the new tag location is along Barona Road which is all of 7 miles long. How difficult can it possibly be? I've attached a map, just to help out those that are having problems finding the general area. So can I help it if the location can't be found using MS S&T, or Goggle Maps? Ride the road and keep your eyes open.

dteel
07-12-2008, 06:18 PM
You're in it. Try not to get too far north of LA though. You'll start infringing on the middle CA area. We don't consider anything north of San Francisco to be in CA, really they are just southern Oregon residents.
I know this is open to interpetation, but I consider LA south Southern California, anything much north of LA & above Ventura to be in middle CA and San Francisco to be Northern CA. I don't know any ST-Owners in CA north of the SF area.

The bottom line is that if you get too far afield then I guess you'll get the wrong set of guys playing in your sand box. I certainly wouldn't want someone posing a picture of their bike at the end of the pier in SF as the next tag spot for SoCal. If I was headed to SF anyway, I might make the attempt, but you can bet I wouldn't make a special trip for it, would cost way too much in gas to make it worth while.

Holy Crap............150 miles one way for a slice of Mom's pie and to get a photograph of a sign. It was fun though. :D
The directions that I wrote down suddenly didn't match with what I encountered once I got to Ramona. Thank God for a knowledgeable and helpful local. Once back on track, my directions were still all screwed up. Heading down a road, I started to get the feeling I was going the wrong way. As I decided to turn around, I just happened to pass the sign. Sweet.
For fun, I decided to get Capt Gruuvy's tag as well. (1st pic) Due to the traffic and parked cars, this was as close as I could get.
So, new tag. Hwy 79 (3rd pic)........pic is rather obvious.

Whoohoo Adam, way to go! I didn't think anyone was ever going to tag my picture. The out of the way location and the fact that it's not a prominent SoCal landmark made it a bit difficult. If you would have kept going you would have been on Wildcat Canyon Road. Back in the 70s before there was a casino out there, that was one fun motorcycling road. I have fond memories. Now the road is so crowded with BDC it's hardly worth the trouble. The rest of that road you were on all the way to Barona is worth the ride though. It's only 7 miles long from start to finish so you couldn't have been too far out of the way.

You're absolutely right, drove my motorcycle on gravel every day. The road I lived on was paved with gravel. But loose gravel still gives me the willies. I like nice packed gravel, or even better packed dry dirt. I've seen dirt roads that are smoother than any paved road I've been on.
What I find amazing is that with all the ST-Owners in the SD area, that my tag lasted the day. I'm pretty sure it's closed now, so unless it's already been tagged, it will hold up for at least 24 hours.

What I find amazing is that with all the ST-Owners in the SD area, that my tag lasted the day. I'm pretty sure it's closed now, so unless it's already been tagged, it will hold up for at least 24 hours.
Well it's not for not wanting too. I can see the TAG spot from the end of the street, it's about about 5 or so miles away from the house. I did take a ride up to the top but the lot was full, so I figured I'd give somebody else a chance at it.

Ah, but that decision belongs to the next person to tag the spot. If only the far south SoCal riders and Yuma guys are tagging, then we get to pick the spot. I do believe that's how it works.

Congrats on the late tag. I figured you would get that one since it's close your your Mexico commute. I thought the gravel brought a certain amount of excitement. I'm sure a photo from the frontage road would have been just fine for the faint of heart. :D
I had to do a 600 mile cage ride yesterday, went right though El Cajon. Just for fun I wanted to nail the tag shot with my Diesel PU & 24' enclosed trailer on the way to help my sis move, but, no time for fun, it ended up being a long work day.

Still in San Diego and still in San Diego County. I didn't have a lot of time to devote to it today, so I just did the best that I could with the time I had. George, you're not a goberment worker... aren't you suppose to be working today! So anyway, back to the computer for some fast research, then plotting a route that I hoped would lead me to my target (it didn't but it got me into the area). I had to search around a bit. Found several unpaved roads. Finally found it. I'll bet I drove almost 300 miles today and I didn't go anywhere!

We rode on a bike path to it...but I "think" it's for unmotorized bikes! It we keep this up we're going to get tagged, and you guys will have to bail us out!

I rode "everyday" until I was about 17. I graduated from High School and got over that in a hurry. I sold my horse when I was about 22, funded a MC. Not the first, but cost $250...I haven't swung a leg in 35 years, and don't miss it a bit. Those horses are serious dangerous...

After extolling the beauty on the dirt road George referred to, Carole insisted we take a run at it together(she wasn't with me yesterday). So off we went, me on the Wing, her on the Valk Trike. We pulled up at George's tag and she asks "how long before the road ends?" I tell her around a couple of more curves you'll see the "end pavement" sign. Well sure enough the pavement ends and the 13.1 miles of dirt start. The big problem, Carole didn't have a card in her camera and now we have to go back again!!!
And just to prove Carole did ride the dirt road I have included a picture of her coming to the end of the road at the tag spot!!!

Yeah, there is some great scenery in back hill area of SD county. I stopped were the pavement ended because the sun was going to be setting in about hour and didn't want to chance it (and I had to get back ASAP to post the TAG :) ). On the way back there was a kid jogging (of all places) and I stopped and asked him what the dirt road was like. He said that there was some big ruts in the road so I felt that I had made the right decision to hightail it home. Sounds like I need to make a return trip to see what's up.

Believe me George, you owe it to yourself to do it. I only went about 20-25 mph the whole way, but the panoramas are fantastic. The ruts are from rain runoff across the road. There are many places where there is washboard also. I met two cars yesterday and none today!!! I meant it when I said we were making another trip. It will probably be early next week and you're welcome to come with us. With Carole stopping every 1/4 mile to take pictures it will take a while.

I rode up with John_Diego, so you're right, Mac is off who knows where, and I had John showing me all the back roads on the way to Dan's place. Seen a whole bunch of neat tag spots, but man, the game would take on a whole new character if they were that far north.
BTW, I don't have a clue where that buggy is at. Maybe we could get together for a bit of a ride tomorrow? Seems you know some SD county roads that I've never seen before. Time for my education to begin!

Carole forgot the stick, but she rode her own on Boulder Creek. We had a picnic for the Wanderers and were at the park to save tables from 0300 to 1000. Cleaned up from the picnic and went to a baby shower at 1600 and are now waiting to get in a 60's concert. We have a household move tomorrow for a friend, so the new tag is safe from us till Monday.

Hey no problem Tony, I don't mind. I like it better when there's a lot of activity! If you have a day off during the week you might get it yet. With Mac way up north we don't have much interference from the retired crowd....hehe; those guys have unlimited time to cause mischief!
According to George he has stuff to do around the house before the weekend is over and coming over to my house to help me change tires (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49804) has compressed his schedule and he don't have time to head out there this weekend.

Oh, I suppose we could get some snow pictures for those Colorado folks, but why they'd want to see more snow, I'll never understand. It's not likely to happen any time soon though, maybe in December or January.
BTW, wasn't yesterday about the most perfect riding day? I found some less traveled roads. The temps were in the 70s the whole time, not too hot, not too cold. I had a great time, not a lot of miles compared to many but 244 miles in a single day just putting around SoCal is a lot for me. All in all I think we spent about 5 hours in the saddle.

Vicki and I had just arrived home in time to put the ham we were having for supper in the oven when I seen the post by John tagging our spot. We spent the day on the bike riding out to Santa Ysabel then off to the East Grade to Palomar then down the South Grade. Seen a lot of bikes, most of the cages were pretty courteous and moved out of our way. On the way up the East Grade, we were tailed for awhile then passed by a fast '07. Sure would like to know who that guy was. I was in the groove and even two up I was humping up those curves and I couldn't' even place two car lengths between him and I. I finally slowed and motioned him on. After about 2 minutes I never saw him again.
Anyhow, I mentioned to Vicki that John Diego had tagged our post :bow1:, and asked her if she wanted to go get then new tag spot and she said no. Not with dinner in the oven and a full day of riding under our belts.
The good news, she "MADE" me stop in Santa Ysabel on the way back for pie. Had a slice of Strawberry Rhubarb, and she bought a full pie of Mountain Apple Wild Berry pie with the crumb top (Dan's favorite if I'm not mistaken).
So even though I didn't get the tag yesterday, I'm quite pleased with my day of riding and the adventures that I had.
Now I get to work and find that I can't log into my NMCI comptuter because I forgot my CAC card at home so I guess I'll just have to ride back home to get it and then ride back to work.

Well, all the guys from the northern part of the SoCal area have been clamoring to move the tag north. I swear if that tag is still there next Sunday, I'm going to be all over it and I'll move it to the Mexican border.
:toot1: The challenge has been made. :toot1:

Ok, too close to pass up! Thanks Mac... I know I should probably have moved it further north or east but...I think I'm on an island up here anyway..
Sorry the lighting wasn't so good at the Avendale shot, but while standing in the intersection to take the pic an OC sherife deputy pulled up and was giving me the evil eye. "You see officer I had to stand in the middle of the road at rush hour to get the tag for the" "ouch, hey, wait, no, no don't tase me BRO"....
So here you go,,, Thought it kind of goes along with the Chad Vader thing..."if" you need a hint, try to line the shot up with the torpedo in the center...:p:
Enjoy the ride!:D

I passed that building on the way to or from Turbo Tom's TechSToc, I know where it is, but will let someone else tag it. In fact I will probably pass it again on the way to the 91 in the morning!!!!

Nice tag Don. Wow, I don't have a clue where that is. I guess I live a sheltered life. Sure looks cool though, very futuristic for some reason; looks like it could be a shot right out of Battlestar Galatia. :yr1:
You're lucky Mac is other wise occupied.
What is SoloTotoCoyote doing, why hasn't he tagged it yet?

Carole,
1. Click "User CP", pretty sure this means User Control Panel
2. Click "Edit your details"
3. Scroll almost all the way to the bottom and look for a box labled "2008 Miles", there's an input box there and you need to ensure that you use six figures, for example mine is 017150, or the change will get rejected.
Hope that helps!

I'm still trying to get caught up from when I was unemployed for two weeks. It's amazing how such a short time period can can set you back pretty good. I hope to be back in the game soon. :D

Darn George, you shouldn't have let them off the hook, it wouldn't have hurt if you left that last piece out.
I don't really care where the tag is either. I'd just like to see it keep moving. When I was last up to Dan's cabin, I saw what I thought were a ton of great tag spots. I was having fun searching out the tag spots left by my fellow San Diego area riders. I was actually being introduced to a lot of new locations that I've never visited before. The bottom line is that I was having fun, I believe this is what the game is all about, learning new things about the place you live and having some fun. My wife is actually starting to get into it and wants to help me locate tags and find new ones. I think she's caught the bug!
So you guys have fun there in the northern part of the SoCal tag game. But don't count us San Diego tag players out. We are willing to "Go Ride" to get the tag!

I have to say I am very remiss in not mentioning that George and John's tag was a rather pleasant ride down a dead end road for about 3 miles. No one in their right minds would go exploring that road unless the little sign at it's beginning pointed to a Rod and Gun Club somewhere on the dead end road. Not how far in or anything, but enough to get two guys out riding south to stop and make the right turn!!! Nice job guys, but it googled and was an easy find.
Now DonP's tag is a bit more of a challenge, but my son who is in the know about logos immediately picked up on it and when I told him I thought I had seen the building, he googled the company and sure enough it popped right up and indeed I had passed it. Don't know who will get it, but I miss being out there already and just got home yesterday!!!
