Just a few Highlights/Lowlights...

Moonshine got 9.25 inches of rain in just a little over 6 hours!!! Water was up to the porch at Moonshine!!! And,,, The Store sets on about the highest spot in the general area!!!

The bridge you cross coming from Casey??? The Road was 109% below water on Saturday!!! Never,,, EVER,,, been this high...

To show ya how bad the area was hit??? Train Tracks were washed away just Outside Martinsville... Trains have been shut off going by my house for 3 days!!! (((Small silver lining)))

Water closed I-70 at Martinsville!!! Martinsville "Only" got about 6 inches,,, Moonshine got all the run off from Martinsville/Casey area,,, and the 9 inches they got too!!! YIKES!!!

The 800 Harley Riders could not get to Moonshine to eat,,, and had to cancel... The area was under a State of Emergency all most all of Saturday...

Helen and Roys Kids/relation ordered "Special" shirts for the 800 or so Bikers who were coming...

:::::I advised not to or at least,,, make it VERY GENERAL type shirt with no date:::::

I hear it has "the" date from Saturday on it,,, and is really only a "That Day" type of shirt... I am going down tomorrow and see if I can help get their money out of the shirts at least... How many shirts were ordered??? Don't know yet as I was cleaning out basements all day from the flood... My guess is,,, 200 - 400... I hope it is WAY lower total...

Helen and Roy had all this Hamburger,,, buns,,, waiting... The Hamburger will be ok,,, but the buns they will lose... Sad... The biggest pay day of like,,, EVER,,, and they did not make a dime... :(

I heard from more than 7 different people who were at Effingham that the riders really wanted to try and break our record... I was hoping they would... Gives me something to shoot for then next year ya see... ;)

I was on my way down to help along with Rick Madlem at 6 am on my bike when as I was leaving my house,,, I heard the Sump Pump running and went down to find water in our basement... Found out later Moonshine deal had been canceled... Tim Yow,,, even after a Tornado almost hitting his house and the mess that made calls me to see what Help Helen Needed... Truely,,, shows what a great guy Rick and Tim really are... I swear,,, I was sadder from that news of the Moonshine Canceling than having my own basement soaking wet...

Sorry to hear about this Terry. And I though we had some flooding problems around here. Do you think that Helen will be able to open up in time for Saturday?

It seems the mere mentioning of motorcycles at Moonshine causes sometype of weather.

That REALLY sucks Terry!:(
We have those totals for the month so far...record since 1917 or something like that...I've never seen it this bad....
Hang it there...

Sorry to hear about the flooding, been there, done that one several times.

I hope the weather moderates up there soon, I understand that the whole center of the country haas been getting extreme weather this spring and I would not wish that on anyone.

On the other hand, the Tee-shirts are starting to sound like collectables... Just put something about the "Spring 08 Flood Run" on the back.

That really bites!! But as long as everyone is OK!!

Here's an idea....

Buy a "Limited Edition" Moonshine shirt (The MLR that never was!), get a bag of buns for 1/2 price!! Buy NOW while the buns are good!! Start your own Science Project!

Headed to PayPal....

Terry... I will take a 3X shirt. Does not matter what it says or looks like, I can always wear it to do yard work.

And just a note about the record, breaking our record in June, July, or August seems like no big deal since we set it the record in the snow. Not very hardcore to show up on a nice sunny hot day and eat a burger.

Anyway, I am planning on Saturday, so let us know if its cannot happen. Or forget the burger and we can all come and help with cleanup if its needed.

Mulling over ideas on buying a bunch of shirts and getting something added like that,,, or talk them into doing it... The MTF site I have about 20 or so already saying they will buy shirts to help out... I just am not sure I have the time to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But,,, if I know myself,,, I am betting I will try... ;)

Terry: Did your farm get flooded as well? Moonshine dates always seem to collide with something else I have planned.

I am home today draining my basement and seeing how much I have to toss. (Taking a little break to read the forum.. it is so addicting) Luckily, I was working on my computer and had it on the desk and not on the floor where it usually sits.

Dang, nothing worse then soggy burgers! :(

While you guys are getting all the :rain1: back there, we are sitting here, in a state where the governator :wt1: has declaried "...ve are ina drought!"

What he doesn't know, we are ALWAYS in a drought, that's why they call this a desert! :doh1:

We need to have a pipeline to pipe all that excess water to SoCal. Heck, all of those states would probably pay to have it put in if it would lessen the flood damage. Wonder if the Corps of Engineers is busy....

Not a fun time for you guys I'm sure.

Terry, while I'm sorry for the deluge it sounds like the folks made it through. This should be one for the record books. If there's an XL T-shirt let me know the price and I'll send you compensation.

I went and looked at the shirts... Ok,,, we are all family here so,,, I will tell ya what I think...:D

The shirts are a Heat Transfer shirt... (((I don't like Heat Transfer shirts)))

They are Black shirts... (((I don't care for Black shirts really)))

And I am not wild about the Graphics and the lettering is to small... (((Yes,,, I am a T-Shirt Snob)))

But that said,,, I am going to help them get rid of a few shirts...

They "Only" ordered 300 shirts,,, and probably 250 left to sell...

I am thinking about getting a Stencil and using some kind of Spray Paint to make a 0 with a / through it... Or,,, Canceled because of a Flood... Or,,, Boats,,, Not Motorcycles needed... :crackup

I am far to busy for this,,, but I am Industrial Strength Stupid,,, and I will try...

Farm had spots where Corn was under 9 ft of water... :hyp1:

Water level has NEVER,,, E V A R,,, been this high... Never,,, EVER...

I think,,, the corn will make it... Looking at the Calendar,,, I am sure,,, it will... Corn in this area needs to be planted by about June 10th... Rol the dice,,, and take what ya have already planted...

It will take at LEAST 5 days to dry out,,, 5 days to plant my beans (((working 16 - 20 hour days))) and 2 days to apply Anhydrous Ammonia to corn... Total of 12 days... I leave in 13 days for WeSToc... :hyp1:  :( :o:

I can deliver,,, "IF",,, I get my beans planted... This will be a very tight race,,, and little/no rain is needed so I can still make WeSToc...

Could you but something on them like...."We hold the record, a little bad weather never stopped us!" I would buy 2 of them then!:D

I admit,,, I would too...

BUT,,, in reality,,, the Harley riders never even got the chance to try and beat our record... The State Police SHUT DOWN,,, this ride!!! They were all riding over in a chain from Effingham to Moonshine (((I think,,, total stupidity and just asking for a problem even on a good day IMHO))) Police were escorting them in the lead,,, middle,,, end... With all that was going on Weather wise,,, the police said they could not help at intersections and stop lights and pulled the plug on anyone getting there... A few tried I hear to get there but by then the water had rose so high,,, all roads were underwater,,, and only true locals living a few miles away could even get to Moonshine at all!!!

I wanted the Harley riders to get to Moonshine,,, and then an arse wetting rain move in and dirty their chrome,,, ok,,, ALL RIGHT!!! I ADMIT IT!!! I ADMIT IT I SAY!!!

My wish,,, must have been on Steroids!!! :crackup
