Yesterday I mounted the backrest on the STeed and noticed that there is a gap (about 1/16 - 1/8") between the bottom rear of the mounting plate at the top of the support the plate attaches to. Is this normal?

Also, for those who may ride with the backrest removed for time to time, have you plugged the hole where the bracket slides in to? If so, with what?

Thx,

Bruce

This is normal at the very rear. The plate is raised slighly higher than the rack itself on top.

I hadn't thought to remove it for riding, so can't help you our there.

Thanks for the reply. So....if your wife sent you to the Home Depot to pick up those plants, grill, water heater, etc, you would not consider removing it to make more room? :D

No. :mcrider:I bungied my golf clubs on before I installed the backrest, I haven't had the chance to do so since. If it looks like something sharp could damage the seat, I'll remove the backrest. The backrest fits nicely in the side bag if need be.
