Hi ya'll.

I'm looking for some new boots, hopefully some that'll give me some more height.

What are you wearing and liking these days?

FYI, up till now I've been wearing two kinds of cruiser-SIDI boots, and they've been great... except the rubber isn't as grippy as it could be and the soles are pretty short. At first I though "waterproof" was really important to me, but I ride in the rain so little I don't think it's much of a priority any more, but it is icing on the cake.

I tried Cruiserworks but couldn't get a good fit. I like a boot with toe, ankle, shin protection if possible.

All advice appreciated!

Michael

I also need height. I wear some HD boots. They are easy to put on, feel good, and wear real good. I've had them for over a year and they still look good. Best of all they give me height. With the boots and my Spencer seat mod I can sit with both feet flat footed. I have a 30" inseam and these boots work good for me.

I've had Sidi On-Roads for a little over a year and love them. I can wear them all day and never have any complaints.
Pricey but well worth it in my opinion.

I got a pair of diadora's last year. I cant remember the model but they were a great fit right out of the box and they are waterproof. They are more sport bike style but all day comfort is there.

I had Sidi Champion boots. They were great except the outer which made of Lorica. When they scuffed it was impossible to remove the marks. Other than that I would have bought another pair. The Champion is discontinued but the Sport rain boots look identical. I then bought the Oxtar Matrix II now called
TCX Matrix GTX II Touring Boots. Leather outers, gortex, breathable, rainproof and comfortable to wear all day, on and off the bike. I would buy another pair when needed. BTW with the Sidi after 3 years I developed a leak and when I asked Sidi about a remedy they replaced them.

I am using Gaerne, very nice and comfortable waterproof too. Not sure if they would help height wise though.

Does "Internal toe protection" mean steel toed or something less?

Red Wing Pecos (1105) I just had them resoled by the factory
with the Vibram sole...gave me cleats and height ....just what
I need and want....Boots about $180 with smooth sole wore out in about 20K and $79 for the new and improved bottom.

Also got a pair of waterproof Fieldsheer from that Dallas Honda dealer for $40...like um, good support but not much
height....don't forget to Spencerize your seat...good for a inch or two and increased comfort....Go Spencer!

Sidi On-Road boots! Had mine re-soled recently after many years. Still waterproof; still comfortable on and off-bike. The re-sole cost $50. As mentioned, these boots are costly but well worth it.

I have the Aero Stitch Combat Touring made by SIDI and love them especially in ugly rain days. I wore them around the house to break them in before riding. I thought that they would never break-in but they did and I can wear them all day.

I started shopping for new boots recently.

I have been eyeing the Sidi Canyon Gore-Tex (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/36/6535/ITEM/Sidi-Canyon-Gore-Tex-Boots.aspx?SiteID=CSE_GBase_036&WT.mc_ID=80003&zmam=88421133&zmas=1&zmac=2&zmap=6535). They look similar to the Sidi On Road except these appear to be more durable on the tops and also have a very wide single velcro strap & buckle rather than 4 velcro straps.

I can't believe the prices the Sidi boots are commanding. It doesn't seem that anyone sells them under list price. I recently missed out on a 25% off sale (all parts & accessories, boots included) and now see what a deal it was.

nm6r: "I can't believe the prices Sidi boots are commanding."

Weak dollar and whatever the market will bear. And yes, nobody seems to discount them. The price must be controlled by the supplier, ostensibly to protect the small retailers who can't compete with the big discounters.

Still loving my gen 1 Oxtar Matrix Gore Tex boots. Absolutely waterproof, just as MCN said they'd be. The gen 2 version lacked the flap to adjust the width a bit, which helps with my skinny feet. They're now sold under brand name TCX (here) (http://www.newenough.com/boots/waterproof_sport_street_touring_boots/tcx/x_five_touring_motorcycle_boots.html).

Motorcycle Closeouts (http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/cruiser/cruiser+boots/tcx_matrix+2+gore-tex+boots)has them listed a bit cheaper, but still, wish I'd gotten 2 pair. Got mine originally at Derby Cycles. They have a 10 and 14 left at the old price.

I've been wearing the Oxtar (TCX) Infinity for the last two years, and I really like them. The Infinity is a little heavier than the Matrix. They have broken in very well and are very comfortable both on and off the bike. I don't think they add any height, and at 6'6" I don't need any.

FWIW, the TCX Infinity is virtually identical to the BMW Savanna as noted in THIS THREAD ON ADVRIDER.COM (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69649)

I prefer a full race boot for the best possible protection;consequently, I wear Sidi Vertigo Corsas during the summer. However, I just bought a pair of Tourmaster Solution Waterproof boots for winter riding because they offer fair protection and they are much cheaper than a full on, non vented race boot.
