Sounds good. Pine is better than _anywhere_ near Phoenix.

As usual, I always hope to make it and will try to be there. Sometimes things go the wrong way. Place is not important, ride and company is what is all about.

Me, too, Bob. I have a spot only about 5 miles from Pine.32947
Great shot George.
Remember to make sure you're not on one of the reservations... they hold something of value until you pay the fine in cash (and then ship the item back to you: one of my next door neighbors had his expensive sleeping bag held).
Their land and I don't mind; but, it is better to be aware of the rule...

Had a great time today.
Good to see some "old" friends and always nice to meet new.
Wonderful to escape the muggy hot Phoenix weather for some cooler climes. On the way home, got absolutely dumped on with rain for about 10 miles. ST held up like a champ.
Thanks Don for the RTE suggestion. Looking forward to the next one.

Home safe n sound. Rode the funny looking ST for this ride. Good time meeting up with you guy's. After all these years of reading posts, finally got to meet uncle Don D. Tom & & had a great ride home... ran into rain in all the right places. Camping in the forest was AWESOME! Even got a few "artsy fartsy at 80 mph" photos just north of Yuma.

So. I didn't get this done last night. Sue Me.
Bob, Bryan, Don, George, Peter and me. Nice gathering. Was good to see everybody, and get to take a good look at Don's KLRMonster!
Great ride home with Bob. Just enough rain too keep things cool. I took a short cut to get there. Here's a hint.

Had a great time, good ride, met new friends, life is good! Had to ride through a big down pour around Sunflower, but it made rest of the ride more comfortable, gear acted as a nice evaporative cooler rest of the ride. I am looking forward to the next RTE.

Here's a little ride report. Pictures are here (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/album.php?albumid=96). And, a sample.
33277
Took off Saturday about noon, in a light rain. Dry roads by the time I got to the US 93 turn off from I-40. Pleasant temps as I passed by the major T-storm dumping in the Hualapais.
Followe my normal route, US-93, AZ-97, AZ 96 to Kirkland Junction, then up AZ 89 on the good piece toward Prescott. Had an up close and personal wiht a _large_ range steer on 96 (see the pic) Had an up close and personal with Officer J.L. Congrove of the AZ DPS (again). He let me go with a warning (again.) He said, "We lose a couple motorcycles a month along this stretch!" (Again.) Says he's been sitting in the same spot (4 miles south of Prescott) for 15 years. Have to wonder how much good he's doing. :D
I was _surprised_ when he pulled out cause I was really coasting thru there. I know where he parks, was watching for him, and really thought I was okay. Said he clocked me at 51 in a 35. Jeeeeeeeeeeeez! The limit is really too low thru there. Ah, well, that's 10 MPH slower than last time. :D
Would'a got _dumped_ on in Prescott, 'cept I was in the store when the storm hit so I just stayed in til it stopped.
Continued on thru Prescott Valley and over Mingus Mountain thru Jerome, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, and Camp Verde. Stayed east on AZ 260 and AZ 87 thru Strawberry and Pine to my camp site off of Control Road. Pleasant evening, good sleep, slept in til 6:50 Sunday morning. No rain overnight.
With time to kill, I continued south thru Payson and on down 87. First thought was to go do Salt River Canyon but found an alternative. Gisela Rd, to the ranching community of Gisela offered a fun alternative. 5 miles of mountain switch backs, take a couple pictures, talk to some natives, then return. See the pics in the album. Gisela Road goes east from the south side of Rye, AZ.
Returning to Rye, I took some time at the All Bikes wrecking yard. Many old memories. This place is, like, the _opposite_ of the Barber Museum! Many of the same model bikes but _not_ in show condition. :D
Also had breakfast in the local cafe/bar. Nice group of Hardly riders enjoying a ride up from Phoenix in search of cool temps. They were successful.
Finally arrived back in Pine about 12:15. The rest of the crew was nearly finished with lunch. I ordered and ate, and shot the breeze for a while.
Only six of us there, myself, Petar, and Bryon, plus the Three Amig0s, D0n, T0m, and B0b. :D
Surprise, surprise, only one 1300!
As we all went our separate ways, I went north on 87, thru several light showers, to Winslow. Finally found Standing On The Corner Park. It is in process of being heavily revised and added to, with an eventual HISTORIC ROUTE 66 emblem embedded right in the intersection and a major addition to the park. Seems the building of which the mural wall was a part burned to the ground in 2004. They saved the wall and are in process of turning the west side into a 3-D map of the whole route 66, from Chicago Lake Shore to Santa Monica Pier. It should all be finished before the fall festival (first weekend in October) 2009.
But why wait? Much of the work will be completed for this year's festival, same weekend in October, 08. I think I'll go.
After a pleasant converstation with the young lady who runs a souvenir shop across the street (she says local traffic is down but foreign visitors are up _big time_) I headed west out of town on the old rout til forced on to I-40. Ran that all the way home with only a brief stop to don the Frogg Toggs. Weather looked very bad in the San Fransisco Peaks (Flagstaff) but that only generated showers. Kept it all on and finally got to make good use just before arriving back in Kingman.
So, I left home in the rain, arrived home (nearly) in the rain and a really good weekend in between.
Next week, Simi Valley, California.

Nice shots George.
Bob, what time of day did you take those shots, the colors are beautiful? I think I would have stopped vice shooting at 80 MPH if I seen a sky like that. Might have even drug out the tripod so I could try some stuff with the ST and me in the picture. I know, you didn't have your ST on this trip, I can read really, just the memory that's shot. Just don't get Fred (Finewest) started on them or you'll never hear the end of it. Just kidding of course, Fred really knows his way around a camera.

Hi Dana,
Snapped them shots just before 7:00 pm, heading south on hwy 95 with Big Tom right behind me. The sky was really something that night. We were just grateful for the shade them clouds provided since we were riding well into the triple digits. (temp not speed) Thats my story & I'm sticking to it...:D
Nuther action shot..Big Tom at Speed.
