The AZ DPS currently (6/08) has 2 photo radar vans that I have found on I10.

The 1st time traffic was doing about 87mph in a 75mph zone.
They had a sign in the shoulder of the right lane that I only glimpsed because of the thick traffic.
Very quickly I came to the camera van in the center median... took a picture of the car 3 ahead of me.
Less than 5 miles further on (traffic had resumed speed) and I saw a flash up ahead and slowed down. Yup... the 2nd van. I didn't see the photo radar in-use sign at all (again due to thick traffic and it was dusk).

The 2nd time the sign and the van were on the right merrily snapping away...

Be alert and you'll have no problems; but, the heat will tend to make you less than alert...

Good riding!

Da&^ I really hate to hear that they are out and about. I appreciate the warning (I haven't been photographed, yet) but it is an agony to know they are coming.

Thanks, Mark

Picture of the front of the vehicle, rear, or both??

Both.

AZ doesn't have front plates on cages, need front for driver ID and rear for plate reasons.

A fixed camera in Scottsdale took a picture of a dead guy Monday night. He was found Tuesday, bound and shot. The Police are looking for the couple that were pictured in his car when it sped through a camera....

Matt Leinert (Cardinals QB) was clearly visible in his SUV when the camera went off:)

Both in AZ.

This state requires that they ticket the person... I haven't heard what happens with dark or mirrored shield...
But, I suspect the MC rider will like it! :)

When you cant balance a state/city budget... Photo Radar is the ticket (pun intended)

I haven't read if the legislature allowed the Gov to balance the budget with radar...
It *was* in her original budget; we would have had more cameras than England if she had her way.
I'm also sure all speed limits would have dropped on lonely back roads... Not a nice gov IMO...

Boy. Another good reason for going back to school.

The legislature passed and the govrenatoress signed the radar bill. The article in the Republic didn't mention safety once:) Did mention balancing the budget...

There are no words that I can use on this forum which can *really* express my displeasure for both the legislature and this gov... what a piece of work.

Guess its time to send a few *non* love letters...
sigh....

No doubt.
But we do drive cars when we have 4 going somewhere...

MD recently raised sales tax 20% (MD needed the money to support the illegal aliens) so folks are going to Delaware where there is no sales tax to do their shopping. MD recently started the "tax task force" who are stopping MD tags coming in from DE to see if they have purchased items tax free in DE and if they have, they write them a ticket for the amount of tax due. Allegedly, if you buy more than 2 cartons of cigs in DE and bring them into MD, you can be arrested for tax evasion. We'll see how long this lasts...don't you just love our elected officials!!!

Something about the U.S. Constitution comes to mind...
I suspect a federal suit is needed...interfering with interstate traffic would be "in restraint of trade'.

This from a man who lives in KOLLIEFORNIA?

Sorry Jon, I just couldn't help myself.
Obvious difference in the base culture of the states. California is car based and pretty darn civilized about traffic and enforcement. Arizona is way more 'red' and pretty darn good about their personal freedom ideas (read gun laws). You pays your money and takes your chances:)

Our governor can beat yours up, anytime!

Since when is it illegal to shop in the next state over????? Has MD not heard of internet shopping? What are they going to do with that, sniff peoples internet activity and send them e-citations?

Me thinks that they'll be a court case soon on that one.

They want it all...everything they deserve and what you deserve too.

There has been a number of discussions about taxing the internet...they just haven't figured out how to enforce it yet. They are taxing everything else so it is just a matter of time!! There is even discussion of reducing the estate tax exemption from $1M to $600K...apparently they are missing taxes from some dead folks too.

Tennessee looks better and better!!

Wow, so many things to comment on...

I chased promotions to California. Will retire in 2011 and (most likely) relocate yet again.

Yeah, the Governator could wup up on Nappy!!!

There already are taxes in place when you shop out of state. For Arizona, see:
http://www.revenue.state.az.us/brochure/610.pdf

It's just that they're largely voluntary and most of us ignore them. Kalifornia (I think) is different in that they wield so much power they've scared most retailers into collecting it for them. Ever notice how internet sales list sales tax for residents from the state of origin and Kalifornia?
