I just got mine. The initial reaction is that it has been made well but the actual fitting to the bike is somewhat badly designed. I tried to mount it in the top position and it wouldn't mount correctly. I then changed the back bracket piece of it and it fitted.
Once fitted, I felt that it pushed me forward too far (into the tank). I tried every permutation of bracket position and seat position and I could not change the forward angle.
Anyway, the recommendation from Corbin is to break-in the seat for 2000 Miles. I have only done 100 Miles in the new position/seat so the jury is out. It feels more comfortable than the stock but the position is weird for me at the moment. My friend has one [ST1300 also] and he swears by it. I'll give an update in the future to let you know if it's my cup of tea.

Went for my first long (?) ride on the new single saddle last Saturday - 820km
Feels a whole bunch different than the stocker - in a good way. Yes, the break-in time is needed, but considering the difference already, its gonna be mucho appreciado when it molds to my butt. The seat is a lot harder and thats a good thing - no more bottoming out after sitting for a while and the elimination of pressure from the ridges along the top edge of the stock seat feels great, and the extra bit of width goes a long way too. I agree that the ease of fitting it on the brackets is not great and it takes a little jockeying to get it there but its all good in my opinion. Thanks go to Corbin for speedy service - less than 2 weeks delivered from time of order.

I am real happy with my Corbin. I was lucky to find a slightly used seat and not have to wait like everyone else. :04biker:

I got my Corbin Front only seat yesterday.....in exactly 1 week from order date! Great service. However.....the jurys still out on the feel for me. I am having mixed feelings about using the seat because, as it turns out, it's not going to fit onto my riser bracket. The seat pan on the stocker is plastic, so when I raised the front with my bracket the seat would conform to the tank, but this seat has a metal seat pan. Won't conform to the tank, so I had to remove the seat riser bracket. Which as it turns out, was a good thing if I want to touch the ground. Even with the seat in the lowest position I am on tip-toes with both feet, or the balls of my foot if touching with one foot. This has made backing up a real challenge. Almost impossible. There's no way I'd be able to touch with a riser bracket. Another drawback to not using my riser bracket is that now I have to get used to that forward slant again.
Anyway having said all that, I only have about 20 miles on the new seat, so maybe I just need to get used to it. I'll use it for EaSTOC then post a report with more experience on this Corbin Seat subject.

Which models do you guys have? From the Corbin site pix the regular seat seems to have alot of forward slope but you can sit back farther. The "close" model looks to have more of a pouch with an actual rise to the front of the seat so that you may not tend to slide forward as much but I'm worried about it being too close for leg comfort. Right now the most comfortable position for the stock seat is max height for the front, and minimum height for the back. Any comments?

I bought a used one of ebay a couple of years ago for my 1100. I thought it was the most uncomfortable MC seat I had ever sat on. I rode for 75mi. and I had to get off the bike. Talk about monkey butt. OUCH!
I sold to another ST1100 owner. He said he loved them. Shows what I know.

What seat, style, etc did you order.

I've had my Corbin for awhile and it can get hard I now ride with an Alaska
sheep skin pad which is better, I'm taking my seat to Corbin for more padding
on 6/24. I got the heated seat which is great and easy to conect I think the addition of heat helps to ease the burn. Also since I have short legs (30" inseam) I like the position better than stock or my Bill Mayer.

Corbin seats are too hard for my boney butt. However, too many people like them to pay any attention whatsoever to my opinion. I splurged and bought a Russell and don't regret it.
At least look at Sargent, Russell, and Rick Mayer before you shell out your hard earned cash for a Corbin. :04biker: You have options.

Have a Corbin and so far very happy with it, it does get a bit hard after a couple of hours, but nothing like the stock seat and by moving around a bit seems to help. Only have about 800 miles on it so far, but each time I ride it feels better.

1) I am having mixed feelings about using the seat because, as it turns out, it's not going to fit onto my riser bracket.

3)Another drawback to not using my riser bracket is that now I have to get used to that forward slant again.
1) What riser bracket? Do you mean the 3 position (stock) seat height adjustment bracket? And the Corbin doesn't fit it? You had to physically remove it? The website says it integrates perfectly.
2) I am very interested in your evaluation as I am 5'6" and only touch with the balls of my feet now, but was considering a heated Corbin because they claim a 30.5" seat height, which is identical to stock. Your post leads me to believe that is incorrect.
3) I have no slant problems with the stock seat in the lowest position front and back. Is the Corbin the same or is it worse.
Lastly, is it this model Corbin? http://www.corbin.com/honda/st13smug.shtml
Steve - I recently acquired a Dual Canyon (close model) Corbin seat. It fits perfectly. My inseam is 30" and I can flat foot it. It's a tremendous seat, and I don't regret selling the stock seat for one minute. I'm actually looking forward to Fall so I can try out the heater :)

Corbin says the canyon dual sport seat only fits in the low position. I've owned Corbins before and would not buy another one.

My 04 came with the Corbin Dual Canyon - Standard / heated w/backrest. Having not ever ridden with the stock seat it's tough for me to compare. I have ridden 400 mile days with no ill effects.
Firm, just like the Mustang on my V Star.

Ride in and get fitted. I did, and I'm *glad* I did. A stock unmodified Corbin seat would have hurt like hell.
My opinions on the corbin are at http://gigo.com/archives/Blog/corbin_motorcycle_seat.html .. I still need to update it for the smuggler's trunk (and get pictures).

I Have Had 4 Or 5 Corbin Seats On Various Honda's And Have Found Them To Be Very Supportive Over The Longhaul.they Are Not Soft But The Added Width Makes Up For The Softness.i Have An '05 St1300 With A Dual Canyon That Will Fit The Front Medium Bracket With A Little Persuasion.it Will Not Fit On The Medium Position With A Givi Back Rack Unless You Relieve The Corners On The Rack.good Luck In Your Quest.

I have a Corbin Canyon Heated (standard model), and my butt loves the seat. I've had Corbin seats for 3 other bikes and always liked them. Unfortunately, I'm 6'5" and have abused my knees and hips too much over the years - using the seat in the low position (or even) medium solves the sore butt, but creates sore knees.
So I'm selling my Corbin Canyon seat if anyone wants to save a ton of money off retail for a seat that's good as new (maybe better, it's broken in a bit)

OK, so I took my Corbin seat [H-ST-13-FE] for a ride today again (ok the motorcycle as well!!). I'm still not happy with the position of the seat (it pushes way too far forward and causes me to crush my nuts against the tank!). Suffice to say, I needed to do some modifications.
The seat, in itself, is a nicely countoured shape and the padding is in the correct areas. What's wrong with it is the angle at which it sits (the back is too high). I have tried every position adjustable on both the bike and the seat pan. Basically they would allow you to move the seat further forward/backward but since the back is angled it will always have the same inclination towards the front of the bike.
I am 6'1" 32" inseam, FYI.
Anyway, I got a bit creative and did some modifications (albeit not the best).
Some seat pictures for you to see what a kludge I've done.
(Edited after the O.P.) ... OK, for some reason the upload pics isn't working. I'll try again later.
The bolts go under the back fo the front peice and then there is a spacer for strain relief (ie when I sit on the seat).
The back bracket thingy on the seat has been adjusted to the forward position.
The front motorcycle bracket was set to the middle position.
Overall this gives me about an extra 1/2" height at the front. This hopefully will stop me being crushed into the tank! If this doesn't work, I'll take the seat down to Corbin and get them to adjust the padding for me.
I wish Corbin would have made the seat a little bit more adjustable. They have a *nearly* perfect product apart from this issue.

Ok...3 question, huh?.....Ok here goes.
1) No, I'm not talking about the stock bracket. I invented (and am actually in the process of getting a patent for) a riser bracket that raises the front of the seat by an inch and a half. The rear of the seat fall perfectly on the stock middle adjustment, so there is a net gain of 1 inch in the seat from front to back. Helped tremendeously with the burn and with the nut-crunch. I'm 5'7 with a 31" inseam.
2) their claims that it fits perfectly onto the stock seat bracket is correct.
3) It's about the same. The seat height is about the same too, but because it is wider than the stock seat, it makes for a hard reach to the ground.
I've got about 300 miles on the seat now, and the jury's still out.

I would disagree with (3). The Corbin seat slants further forward IMO. Either that or due to the front cushioned bit you feel like it's pushing you further forward.

OK, after a month or so with the Corbin seat, the jury has come to a verdict. I've got to the point where I don't even notice the seat any more. Basically I find it very comfortable and it has definitely helped out for the longer rides.
I did however have to make a modification which was a Kludge (for want of a better phrase). As you can see from the piccies, I added a wedge under the front support to raise it about 1/2". It has made all the difference and I don't get crushed into the tank anymore.
CruisinDog,
Are these pics of a solo, or the Dual Canyon Corbin? Thanks.
