I have a Arai Quantum E helmet, lots of wind noise. I have to use ear plugs, but it still seems very loud.
What's out there in a quiet helmet ? (Full Face)

I'm sure there will be a diversity of answers for this question, but I thought I might throw out my personal observations... It appears to me that any of the helmets that provide good ventilation are also inherently noisy. Keep the earplugs and wear the helmet that you think might protect your noggin' the best...

Agree on both counts. I can't believe how much more comfortable my ride is now that I got decent custom fitted ear plugs. Really makes a difference.

... that's just common sense.

Schubert is the quietest, followed closely by Arai and SHOEI ... HJC's are so so and others are so so ... but earplugs are a must for longer trips especially.

I have found this helmet to be the quietest that I have tried,
and it offers GREAT weather protection...

Putt, that accessory is only available on the GL1800S (submersible).

Anyone have a good source for some custom fitted ear plugs ?

Do they come in decible reduction rating's ?

I wear a 4 year old Shoei RF-900. Excellent fit, good venting. I've been riding for about 22 years, and have never worn earplugs. I travel a fair bit, though the majority of my riding is commuting. Approximately 55 miles per day, with weekend flogs from 100 to 500 or so miles.

I can still hear very well. My last check-up showed excellent response to the "beep" machine. I sometimes hear things going on outside before the dogs do! :D

Good genetics, I guess. I don't discount the use of plugs, just don't use them myself, and don't seem to be suffering any ill effects for that decision.

Fire away ....
