:03biker: Picked it up about three hours ago. I've had a Gold Wing and a VFR, but this is the best. My only complaint so far is the heat  , but this is Florida and it was near 90 today.

Headed for Durango, CO in mid-August to give it "the test."

Glad I got a red one, because, as everyone knows, they are the fastest. . :D

Everyone who's anyone knows that Silver's the fastest. As I've proven in the past, scientifically, Silver has got to be the fastest color.

Welcome aboard! :)

Ahhh yes, the red color lags a tad behind the silver wave length, however all the red bikes go so quickly the actual bike and rider outstrip their own color in speed.

Red bike and rider arrive at any destination hours ahead of all the other colors, bikes, and riders. Often bike and rider arrive before they even leave.

What happens is the red bike and rider sit at their destination colorless and invisible, having arrived before their red color does. They patiently await their red color light waves to catch back up, cloaking them in visible spectrum waves again.

Thus proving that red bikes are fastest even if their colors aren't, bike and rider simply go into warp stealth mode and are invisible until the color is able to arrive.

Hope your not sorry you joined the nuthouse now gerrys. :D

Yeah Tim...Carl's getting a little...uhh.......how do I say this politely.......he uh.........he has illusions with his age......and uhh........he's showing it well isn't he.

I've told Carl before that the Silver has to be faster scientifically speaking, because Silver has a lack of pigments....therefore being lighter in weight. Therefore that bike HAS TO BE faster. Carl's just won't buy it though.

I think you're right GG, Carl might be loosing it. However, you my friend are not far behind him. We all know that the blue flash associated with lightning strikes is a phenomenon that Honda actually harnessed and applied to the paint on the 04 ST. Also, the energy is released directly into the drivetrain, thus the blue ST is obviously the fastest. :D

All I can say is that the red ones must be made in Australia- they may be very fast but are prone to u-turns :D .

Please, please, leave an old man with his illusions, :D or is that PERCEIVED illusions (meaning they are real). Just remember next time I disappear it’s just my speedy red light waves have lagged behind.

Man, that lightening bolt thing… :bow1: :bow1: :bow1:

Ah yes John, I have noted the slightest hint of a boomerang effect with the red occasionally....well.... maybe a tad more than occasionally.... maybe more than a slight hint... Ok I don't want to think about it no more... Hey, there is always talking GPS next year. Your on the hook for GPS obedience on the way up to NHfcSTOC since you offered, I hope your ear mike is turned up good or we'll have silver boomerangs too.

gg... we going to do this again... silver is not on the light spectrum... blue is a short light, thus faster and burns out quicker... red is a loooonger light, thus a little sloooower but lasts loooonger. :D :bow1: :biker:

Silver is actually closest of the three to white light... a bal of the entire visable spectrum. This should get even sillier once they put them out in green, and black ;)

Okay... the thread has been thoroughly hijacked so here goes:

If you got a Black 2006 ST1800, would it have ABS or not and would you change to Synthetic immediately, or wait, or not at all and do you care that it's not as visible as a yellow bike?

Okay... I think I covered a few things there.. LOL

Actually, the reason that red is fastest has to do with the visible light spectrum. Remember the acronym ROY G BIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet)? If you look at a rainbow, you will see that Red is always first. (Perhaps it's different in Australia.) The only bike faster than a red one would be an infra-Red one, but we wouldn't be able to see it. Silver, being similar to white, is a combination of all colors and therefore would be "average" with blue slightly slower. Since black is the absence of color, it probably won't even be in the running, except, perhaps, at night (which explains my black Harley).

This is what I think of when I can't sleep!

And would you add risers, or leave it in the stock riding position. Finally, which top box would you add - the Hondaline box or the Givi?

I just want to say that I think it was unfair not to bring up this colour/speed issue before I ordered mine

I've ordered red and now I'm not so sure. Should I change to Silver or blue. Need to know fast as they're opening the crate on Monday!
It's my first Pan so I need to make an informed decision

Hi Mellow

For '05 we have
Red: a dark red similar to the old 1100 colour (Wineberry I think they called it)
Blue: a really dark blue
Silver: a bright aluminium colour that doesn't look that nice.

I would have chosen the silver if it had been the darker gunmetal type.

So is red OK? ;)

Mellow

Of all the factory colors, so far I'd have to say Red is my favorite...

Just get one color per year in the US..

I'm sure you will enjoy your new ride...

You know Carl, you're absolutley right, I would never challenge your highly trained artistic eye (looked at your website, very nice by the way) The red bike should be admired, perhaps even mounted on the wall. The blue and silver bikes are for ridin'!!! FAST!!
