Does anyone have any experience with angled tire valve stems?

I was wondering if they were of any help for inflating the tire or measuring the tire inflation pressure.

Thanks :biker:

When I put new tires on think I'll replace the valve stems with these metal right angle ones http://www.motowheels.com/

This makes it a lot easier for the back tyre. Although at circa 10$ it is a bit pricey IMHO.I paid £3.

For once something here is cheaper than across the pond!!

I purchased angled valve stems from JCWhitney a while back and had them installed when I had my tires changed. One was installed to the left and one to the right. I find having them both installed to the riight makes it easier to check tire presures and fill while the bike is on the side stand.

The GL18 comes with right-angle stems standard. The GL18 uses a special retainer clip to hold the right-angle stem in place. This often falls off. Many GL18 owners have reported that their valve stems eventually crack due to the forces exerted on the right-angle stem (filling air, centripetal force) without the retainer. When the vavle stem cracks, you get a flat tire.

Changing the valve stem with every tire change is recommended by the GL18 community to keep the cracking from occuring.

My 1990 PC 800 had these stock from honda. I do not know why they did not put them on the ST. They were great and I think I will look into putting them on when I put new tires on.

My GL1800 has been running fine with the valve stems as is and I haven't lost the retainer clips. I change the valve stems with every tire change.... not because of the right angled stem, but because its recommended by tire manufacturers on all motorcylces using tubeless tires. Perhaps this is why I never lose any tire pressure between tire changes?

I will be changing the ST stems to the right angle stems on our first tire change.

My ZX12R came with them, with the stems pointing forward. Easy enough to turn them sideways and much easier to check/air the tires.
