I was just waxing the bike today and was wondering if I should wax my helmet too... Anyone see any negatives to doing that?

I use Honda's Spray Cleaner. Cleans it good, and leaves some protection behind. But I think a real wax job would be overkill. Only has to last 3-5 years anyway :)

I throw a coat of wax on once a year and use Honda spray otherwise. No problems that I can tell from it.

Less wind resistance... easier to wipe off bird doo and bugs... :D
Plexis. In the winter when I have PMS I'll wax it cause I need to bond with my MC stuff :-)

Wax on/wax off during the cold dead of winter aids bug removal for months.

Mellow I only clean the visor on my helmets, removing bugs and cleaning the helmet exterior removes the good juju . Plus no one wants to steal a dirty helmet.

A friend of mine runs a chemical business (mostly waxes and polishes etc.) and he uses me as a guinea pig for new products.
I had been complaining to him about how difficult it could be to remove bugs from the screen and he gave me a sample of a polish that contained a "Teflon" type additive.
The bugs just slide off :) but not for use on a visor.

I wax mine 2x a year. The bugs come easier.

I second the recommendation for Plexis. Great stuff for the helmet and the visor or wind screen. Seems to fill in those little scratches that eventually come along. I've been using the same visor on my Shoei for over two years, a personal best for me. :8):

Waxing yur helmut ruins the nice decorative yellow splotches all over it.
Instead, just throw on a coat of clear lacquer every year to preserve the trophies and to keep the smell down.

Is this a trick question? Of course I wax my helmet - you mean some people don't???
I wax it occassionally, and I clean it every time I ride with Zaino quick detailer. This leaves an extra coat of really slippery stuff for the bugs to deal with.

Thereb are those who wax their helmet, and those that lie about not waxing.........LOL
as there are those who wax it themselves, and those who get it waxed by others :p:

Well my GF usually takes care of my helmet, but I have to do the visor, she can't get that right. Maybe that's why I have glasses and haven't gone totally blind. After 27k+ miles in 14 months I've needed to get those critters removed otherwise I would have asymetric airflow and ..............
Anyway, the bugs do come off easier and the Honda Wax/ polish get things done quickly (but not too quickly). I better run B4 I get run out of town.

Yes, i wax my lid about twice a year-'specially after a long ride and lots-s-bugs. I also put some wax on the visor-seems to help the rain fly off.
