Those are slick looking... I might have to see them on an 05 before I do em... They look great on the silver, probably just as good an the blue too. ;)

Nice looking, I think it will be great looking on the blue one. Easy installation??
What they look in the dark?

Installation is simple. Pop off the housing then 3 screws and the old one comes off then reverse for installation. Then do the other side. Took me all of 10 minutes. When the ignition is on, they light dim and when the turn signal is on they blink bright and look almost exactly like the stock ones. It's weird.....they only look clear when the bike is off.

Nice-like 'em. Did you change the bulb, or is the stock bulb yellow?

Yes you have to change the bulb. They supply that too.

When you go to change out the lightbulbs down the road make sure you get the chrome coated light bulbs from the same vendor. They definitely made a difference as those attempting to save a few bucks with regular amber bulbs can attest. (you don't want that "fried egg" look)

Also, for those that are extremely regulatory and safety conscious, bear in mind that these are not D.O.T. certified and approved.

Got mine of Friday also, unfortunately they included bayonette style bulbs, so I couldn't do the install over the weekend. Left them an e-mail late last night that they also responded to late last night and the correct bulbs are being shipped today. So I'll at least give them a plus in terms of customer care.

I just got an e-mail back from clear alternatives and they told me that these are 100% DOT legal.

Here is their reply to me:

Brian,

Someone mentioned that they are not DOT approved. THey are 100% street
legal and do meet all SAE and DOT requirements. BMW's and many other bikes
and cars now utilize clear front signals, infact many cars in the 70's used
clear front signals. Maybe you can pass this along to the forum. Thanks

Was on another bike forum today and noticed that this very topic is going on there as well - entitled "Clear Alternative Lenses". This post was particularly relevant:

"Well I didn't learn this just today but a couple of weeks ago while getting my bike inspected, the technician stated that he could not pass the bike with these lenses on it. He said that was because they do not have the word "DOT" embossed on the lenses. I had to go home and get the original lenses and put them on right there in order to get the inspection. This is in PA so I don't know what anyone can expect in other states or other stations within PA. So be advised of this situation with these lenses."

That is a State policy, not law. (Possibly even limited to that particular station)

The problem is to challenge it would cost you way too much and get you in reality nothing in return. That is why you should always keep spare parts.

Trade it out and then replace it when you are done.

Gottta love the government sometimes....

I have to leave my pans at home for inspection because the extra directionals and brake lights I added are not DOT... even though they function very well and make the bike safer/more visable. DUM... there should be some room for "reasonable judgement", but I guess that's too subjective

George, they don't quite understand what you mean when you ask if they are DOT approved. To make it simpler for them, just ask them for a copy of their certification from the DOT. I'll bet a donut they don't have certification. Clear lenses are indeed legal, but the structural integrity and safety of the materials is what the DOT worries about.

Sales will tell you whatever they want you to hear.

Cut the brackets?
Why?
The reflectors are bolted to the brackets and the brackets are bolted to the bike,
aren't they?
