I've been all over the web, and cannot find a modular Hi Vis helmet! I'm going Hi Vis all the way as I've been "not seen " too many times.
Anyone know of a reputable manufactuer of such helmets?

The closest thing I've ever seen to a high-viz helmet was the Shoei RF-800 in Vivid Orange. I've owned two, and they were quite visible. They have a new color for the TZ-R called Pure Orange that isn't anywhere near as good, and the brightest thing their modulars come in is Axis Yellow or white.

A word of note. I ride with this guy who has a bother inlaw who is a nuero-surgen. He said that white is the best color for perfieral vision

There is a study out of the Netherlands

Oh, then it MUST be true. Each and every one of those guys from that land is a veritable genius!

:crackup

Oh, Jeeze. Not to mention highly visible:)

Nolan makes a TAXI yellow that is pretty darn visible. I am considering painting mine. Much as I like flat black, it isn't very visible.

You forgot to say alstublieft.

I read awhile back ... I think it was in the AMA mag..... that white helmets are in fewer crashes than any other color....My wife and I both have white Nolan N100E's.

I noticed they stand out more during a ride with guys that have the Noland and Shoei yellow hats they are almost the same color as road signs the white just seems to stand out more.:03biker:

Hi,

I wear the Shoei, RF-1000 in Axis Yellow for the same reason you mention. Bright and a good helmet. I am on my second one. (Lost the first one when a cagerleft-turned in front of me because she "didn't see me.") I wear a yellow helmet, hi-viz yellow jacket and had a light bar on teh front of my Honda Shadow Spirit 1100. Of course I can understand why didn't see me. Yeah, right ....

I wear hi-viz yellow jackets. Wish I could find a hi-viz yellow Shoei.

Could this statistic be somewhat influenced by the type of rider who chooses to wear a white helmet over another more visually appealing one?

It may very well be that the riders of non-white helmets get into more crashes due to their own ill advised riding habits, and therefore visibility issues would not mitigate the risks inherent in doing stupid things with a motorcycle.

It may be the case that riders wearing white helmets are in and of themselves more cautious and concerned for their own safety as opposed to the other type of rider who may or may not benefit from higher visibility.

Disclaimer:
The desire to look cool in no way correlates to unsafe riding practices, however, the cool looking population do include unsafe riders that do get included into statistical analysis of this kind.

I wonder if any has done a comparison on what color helmets are sold more often. Then compared it to the whole analysis of what color helmets are involved in a crash. My assumption after reading these articles are that the most sold colors are in more crashes then helmet colors that do not sell the same amount. Hence the block vs. white or high vis argument.

The New Zealand study is on the web. I read it a while back and it stated the study methodology if anyone wanted to critique it. I glossed over that part to read the outcomes. I think they removed the variable of the small percentage of white helmet wearers in the study.
