http://www.st-owners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=32918&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1215362377 This was waaay overdue. Dan has
done a lot on the site to promote
friendship and motorcycling.
Please congratulate him for
being the
June 2008
Member Of The Month.
From Dan himself:
I am honored to be chosen Member of the Month at ST-Owners.com.
When I originally started searching for a sport touring motorcycle back in
early 2006 I stumbled on this site. I originally considered the FJR, BMW RT
and GS as well as the ST. I often relate to people how wonderful the ST
community is and give 50% of the credit to said community in my final
decision to choose the ST as my STeed of choice.
I owe (blame?) a lot of my motorcycling passion to my my dad. He rode
most of his life, up until the time he had a heartattack commuting home
on his Suzuki 500, late one night. Amazingly he survived the accident and
I like to believe that he continued to live his motorcycling passion through
my brother and I. I have fond memories of my dad taking me for rides on
various motorcycles he owned.
I started riding motorcycles when I was quite young. I rode mostly dirt
growing up. It really all started for me, though, when my father had a
custom built Briggs and Straton Mini-Bike made up for my 7th birthday. I
had visions of straping my camping equipment on my bike and taking
cross country road trips.
One of the greatest memories I have is a road trip to my Grandmother's
house on the outskirts of Las Vegas. My dad took my neighbor and best
friend, Justin (we were both 8 years old at the time), and I out to a
paved bike trail that paralleled the main highway that lead into the
desert. He basically dropped us off and said, "Ill meet you boys up the
road a ways". Easy rider, baby. :)
Through out the years, we didn't have much money, but my dad always
found a way to make it possible for us to have motorcycles.
Well, that is my little story and I'm sticking to it.
Hope to meet you all at other STOC events! (Hope you can
make it out to CreSTOC 2009!!)
Cheers,
<D>

Dan, you always relate that you found ST-Owners to be a fun and happy community, that it played a part in your decision to purchase an ST, over some of it's strong competitors. Well, it seems that likes in this case attract because you are one of the best this site has to offer. I know you don't agree with all the posts, but I don't see you getting into any heated arguments to make your point. Your posts have always been helpful or fun, but never a mean word. Not many can say that.
I'm glad to hear that others have recognized your contribution to this site and how your presence here makes it all that much more fun to read. In this case the cream has certainly risen to the top!
Congrats my friend!

Great comments Dana.. you too epitomize the friendly attitude so many have here.
In fact YOU were a MOTM before the great server crash of 07... any chance you have that write up in your email? I don't remember what month it was but I had just began the MOTM stuff back then.

I think it is wonderful that three or four of my local guys and friends have made MOTM! Cool! Maybe it's a Kali thing, being the weather and all, but it is easy to setup STOCs and RTE's out here and attract a great crowd of fellow ST'ers! In fact if I had to vote for it I would vote...
ALL MEMBERS OF ST-OWNERS.COM ARE MOTM!

I'm pretty sure it was February '07 Joe. I'll look around and see if I can find that write up and if I can I'll send you a PM.

Wasn't it September '06? What was the earth shaking event that occured in September '06 if it wasn't the great server crash? Now I'm confused.

:06biker:Dan, it is great to know you are the ST-Owners biker of the month.
You and your brother were certainly great bikers when we met you in person along the windy Oregon Coast on Sunday afternoon 15 June 2008. Your black 2006 ST 1300 looks exactly like mine. They both look great!
Congratulations for everyone else noticing you also.
