I am going to type this reaaaal slooooow, just in case anyone from Alabama should try to read this post.

After trashing the great state of Georgia, the Georgia ST Riders are looking for new states to plunder and have decided upon the neighboring state of Alabama. (More on plundering other neighboring states later.)

Our first invasion will be by way of a RTE:

11:00 am CDST / 12:00 EDST (As usual, Alabama is behind Georgia)

Fibbers Restaurant (http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf8&um=1&q=Fibbers&near=Cedar+Bluff,+AL&fb=1&view=text&latlng=5435180314663492194)
3545 Al Highway 9
Cedar Bluff, AL 35959

Possible ride to Little River Canyon afterwards.

My guess is that the Bama riders will be too intimidated by the Crackers to their east to even show up to defend their honor. Maybe they can get support from some of the other states to represent them? Show up if you dare. The challenge is on.

bayoubear,

Sorry to hear that you cannot make it. This is normally a good ride for us.
I have been playing (not on the bike) around in Little River for 40+ years.

Stealthtourer and I are trying to get the Georgia Riders active and are planning rides for most weekends, so keep watching the Georgia forum and hopefully we will meet up with you soon.

Have fun in the Virgin Islands.

And yet another 'Alabama' boy weighing in (although I was raised in Tennessee)... Here's a RTE for you (that I used to do when I lived in TN)... Ride up to Fort Mountain State Park (east of Chatsworth - which is east of Dalton) to the Lodge (not part of the state park (I think), but puts on a decent spread for lunch (if memory serves))... That way you can stop picking on Alabama!!! (besides, we don't have any really decent roads anyway)... :D

(besides, we don't have any really decent roads anyway)..

You just have to get out of Prattville to find them.

We rode Ft Mountain just a couple weeks ago. Stopped at the lodge a few years back. If I remember correctly, the food was good but lunch was $20.00+. I would really rather do the lodge at Mt. Cheaha. Good views and not a bad ride up.

I think that I finally have the events of the day straight.

The Georgia Riders were:

Dixieflyer -- 04 ST1300
RoadDust -- 05 ST1300
StealthTourer -- 06 ST1300

Steve, on a 89 PC800
Sheldon on a 86 GL1200

We started out in a little rain, but it soon changed to partly cloudy skies and then warmed up into the high 80's, turning into a nice day to ride.

The Georgia ST riders rode to Fibbers in Alabama to meet the Alabama ST riders, but the Alabama ST riders never showed up because of a little rain.

Chapter D of the Anninston, AL GWRRA rode to Fibbers in Alabama to meet Chapter W of the Woodstock, GA GWRRA, who was going to ride with the Georgia ST riders to Fibbers in Alabama, but the Georgia Wing riders never showed up because of a little rain.

So what this means is:

Georgia ST riders will ride in the rain. Alabama ST riders are afraid that they might get wet.
Alabama Wing riders will ride in the rain. Georgia Wing riders are afraid that they might get wet.

No, wait. We had a PC800 and a GL1200 ride with us. So we had a Georgia Wing rider who was not afraid of water, but he is not a member of Chapter W, so that would mean. . . .

So, I guess what all of this really means is that the riders from Georgia had a great day and a great ride. The Chapter D members from Alabama had a great day and a great ride. Everyone else stayed at home.

bygdawg is planning a barbecue RTE in the near future. Of course the Georgia riders will be there, and of course the Alabama riders will be. . . . ., well, it might rain a little bit on that day.
