I've got a 2610 and I use the Garmin OEM mount combined with a Ram mount fixed to the tubular bars on the Varadero.
I've seen the mount in the Tech section fixed to the Heli, but was looking to see if there are any alternatives. Anyone got any suggestions.
TIA

I was close to getting an FJR before choosing the Pan, and those guys get a nice setup fixed through the steering stem cover.
Was hoping there was something neat like that.

Have you seen this?
http://motorcyclelarry.com/st1300_ball_cover.asp
This is what I did, except I used a 3/4" rubber expansion plug with a 1/4"X20 male stud (Any auto parts store -about $3.00) instead of the threaded rod.
http://www.cycoactive.com/gps/gallery/GPS-ST1300.html
I have a locking Touratech (http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/search_sku.lasso?SKU=065-0066&TopCat=navigation&SubCat=GPS_Mounts*&-session=touratech:7BE8A3DB17A80AD664D7F3D0BA252548 ) mount on a custom bracket...
They also produce bike specific mounting brackets for their mounts.

I manufacture one that bolts to the M&R Shelf. I know it fits the ST1100 because I have one on my '97 and I've sold several to other ST1100 riders. I'm not sure how this mount will interact with the automatic windscreen of the ST1300 though.

I've been on this list for a while but don't spend as much time as I'd like visiting. It would be better (for me) if I were to receive individual posts right on my computer. Can that be done?
Dick.

You can subscribe to an entire forum, just pick which ones interest you, go to them and in the Forums Tools link you have the option to subscribe to that forum, such as the general or topic..

Yeah, I found that out quickly enough - damn!
Well anyway, I guess I visit the site more often until you guys come up with a way to do what I thought was going to happen. :-)
Dick.
What do you need to ram mount a Garmin 2610? I am going to buy the Heli Risers with ram ball mount capability. However, after that what parts do I need to finish the mounting? I saw BlueRidgeBentAero's posting of motorcyclelarry's website and I am wondering if all I need is his part:
RAM-B-138-9 and if so which is better the short arm or long arm?
Thanks,
Patrick

For mounting a 2610 between your handlebars, I think you need:
(1) RAM ball cover plate and RAM ball from Motorcycle Larry:
http://www.motorcyclelarry.com/st1300_ball_cover.asp
(2) RAM cradle mount for 2610 and 3" arm with double ball socket:
http://www.gpscity.com/item-ram/ramb149ga9.htm
This allows either handlebar mounting with the U bolt or mounting between the handlebars using Larry's cover plate.
I use the above for my Garmin 276C. However I just measured my double socket arm, and it's 4 inches long. Don't remember where I got it. In general I think a 3" or 4" arm is better than the little stubby 1.75" arm.
Please double check anything you order to ensure it works for you.

I have just ordered the Helibar with the GPS mount ready in the centre. The only part you need then is this http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod1959.html
I know its a UK site, but i would think it will be the same part number in the States.. Part Number: RAM-B-236.
Its the size quoted on the Helibar web site " Ball (1" dia) with 3/8" - 16 threaded post".
Make sure though you get that size, as there is a couple of mounts that look the same but have different thread sizes.
You would of course then need the double ball mount and the cradle to hold it.
This.. http://www.gpscity.com/item-npi-garmin-streetpilot-26xx-series-cradle/ramholga9.htm
and this http://www.gpscity.com/item-npi-3''-long-arm-with-double-1''-sockets/ramb201.htm
and finaly this http://www.gpscity.com/item-npi-0.38''-16-male-thread-with-1''-ball/ramb236.htm
This should complete the kit you need.

You also might consider getting the optional "StreetPilot 26xx Power/Audio Bare Wire Cable" (about $36Cnd). You can direct wire your bike with this and save the (included with 2610) lighter/speaker adapter for use in your auto.

I ordered the 1.75 inch arm. I haven't seen it yet but when the GPS is mounted, can I see the dash?

I had the 3" one centre mounted on my VTEC, they are so adjustable you can set it to the angle you need. It'll fit no problems and you'll easily see the dash.
The ram ball i need for the helibars is out of stock at the moment and i won't receive it for around a week :( I hope you get yours quicker :)

I found a sun shade hood at the Cycle World show. Really helps keep the sun off the Garmin & provides much better screen visibility. Now to see If I can attach a picture.. hmmmmm.
Nope, cant do it.... no sir..... can't figure out how to add a pic...
or did I ??

Touratech.usa.com Look for GPS Sun Shade in the GPS Section.

I picked one of these up but where do I connect it and where does it store when the GPS isn't connected?
