Oil Seepage right valve cover

I have a recently purchased 2000 ST1100, which I love. I have noticed some oil seepage from the right valve cover and was wondering:
a) is this normal
b) a new seal should fix this right?

I had the same thing when the bike was bought used. Just remove the valve covers and apply a thin coat of RTV sealant to the gasket.
