This may sound a little strange but please bear with me. I had an '04 ST1300 from August of '04 until August of '07. Traded it in for a V Star 1300 Tourer. The problem was that even with risers, I still had to lean too much and put too much preasure on my wrists and forearms. I'm not as young as spring time anymore so this got old after about 14K miles. I thought the cruiser would be a better fit for me and it is. All of it's pieces parts fit my pieces parts. The problem is it's not really that good for touring if the touring is more then just a short jaunt. The other problem is that after 5K miles I find I'm not really that crazy about a big v-twin. Oh, I should mention that the thermastat was bad on the ST when I traded it in. Also, my wife rides with me most of the time and she said that she was more comfortable on the ST then the V-Star.
I've pretty much decided that next spring I'm going to go back to a sport tourer but I'm not sure which one. The two serious contenders are the ST and the FJR with the new Concours 14 a distant third.
Any opinions, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Also, I had replaced the stock seat on the ST with a Russell Day-Long saddle, added a top box from Givi and of course the handle bar risers.
Thanks for your advice/opinions.
