I have been thinking about adding a top box, sure hate to spend around $400 on the Givi. Besides they seem to really hang over the rear. Your comments on the JC Whitney Top Box, for ST1100, please.
TRAVEL TRUNK WITH BACKREST AND SPOILER
* Adds extra storage space to your bike (it's big enough to hold a full-face helmet) plus custom styling
* Strong yet lightweight plastic trunk is designed with molded-in lines on 2 sides, rear and top for a sleek look
* High-gloss black painted finish
Shiny black complements a black bike or adds contrast to different color bike. Lid opens at rear (inner hinges are located at front). Lid is lockable (2 keys included) and includes overlapping rain lip (lip plus inner seal on lower section of trunk help keep stored gear clean, dry). Approximately 9"W x 3-3/4"H firm, black, rubber-like backrest is built into the lid. Wraparound lid spoiler looks great and contributes to aerodynamic efficiency. Trunk has approx. 13" x 10" bottom and mounts on any flat luggage rack—metal reinforcing plate, protective inner foam bottom liner, mounting straps and hardware are included. Trunk bottom, plate and straps are pre-drilled for trouble-free installation. Approximately 15"W at middle x 12-3/4"H x 16-1/2"L overall.

I've seen these and I guess they've always seemed small and out of place on any bike I've seen them on. Honestly if it fits your needs and pocketbook go for it.

I bought the same top box for my ST1300 and it worked well. I didn't want to/couldn't afford a Givi or Honda top box. It looked all right, but not as nice as the other top boxes, in my opinion. It kept everything dry inside, even after washing the bike. I bolted it onto my bike differently than described in the manual and it was quite secure. My fiancee liked using it as a backrest and since she was more comfortable, it made riding a lot easier for me too! It appears quite flimsy, but it never cracked on me. If you get one you'll understand why I mentioned that (it's thin plastic)!

The E33N is a good value and it comes with a mounting plate.
Has anyone ever seen this top case in person?

Hi Joe
I was able to buy a floor model Givi top box and mounts from Lynnwood Cycle Barn our local Honda dealer for less than $300.00 probably closer to $250.00 So it might be worth your while to make an offer on a floor model. This included the bracket it mounts on but not the full installation kit. I made my own mounts and did install it a little farther fwd than normal. I have a red bike and always thought the bright red top boxes resembled a giant tomatoe stuck on the back of my bike The box I purchased is black and does not look a so tomatoesque. My apologies to the fans of the wolf apple !

One other thing about the Givi is they mount and dismount from the bike very quickly and easy. You can find them on Ebay fairly regularly some with the mount kit

I can't find any prices though. You would need to contact them in Italy. Also, I couldn't find ST1300 in the drop down menu, just ST1100 so you might have to fabricate some mounting hardware. It is 44 liters, so it's a descent size.

I just picked up the GIVI E46 in candy apple red. I bought it used in near mint condition, with all the mounting hardware and plate for $175.
It's a lot easier to find a used box than it is to find the hardware specific to your bike.
Before I bought it, I found some other candidates on e-abay that looked a little sleeker than the JC Whitney box.
Just a thought.
saw some cheap top boxes on ebay. the seller has various models/styles. thought about ordering one just to see how well made they are.

Alas and alack, the top box that I received was damaged in shipment.
The guy I bough it from seems to be a real straight shooter, so I think I'm ok with the money part.
I'll just have to start all over again in the spring , this time with a new one.

I noticed in the 1300 picture that the saddlebags appear to have a line painted between the painted part and the lower black plastic. I believe it may be photoshoped in there. It makes it look like the trunk goes with it.
Personally I like the trunk but I don't like the trim. The size is a little small for me but that's a personal thing. To each his own.
If you get it post some pics and let us know what you think.
There's a thread on this same trunk somewhere else in the forum.

I have an old Givi that's outlived a few bikes. Genuine Givi quality coSTs less than you think. The Monolock series offers a good value with the same STurdy conSTruction. Plus these come with a universal mounting plate.
Not a STockholder, juST a happy user. :eat2: Food for tho't anyhow.

Nonfago sized to exist....
GIVI actually took over their contract with Ducati. They make the saddlebags now, using Nonfango's style and shape. But the new topcases are now the V46 bags....
Cheers,
