This is a trial to see how well it works.. I think it would be a great thing for people posting ride reports or 'on the road' type updates...

Just click on the blog link in the blue navbar and you'll see one very simple one I added.

There will be options on the left you can play with.

I'll work on getting a 'recent blogs' block on the home page so you can see the most recent blog entries.

One note, comments to blog entries are not posts they are comments so you won't see those included in the recent posts areas or included in your unread posts search.

Everyone is, by default, assigned their own blog and the same rules we apply to forum posts apply to blog content so please be aware of that.

Enjoy and let me know if you have any problems with this mod and I'll get them addressed quickly.

Example - motomac going to alaska... he can post each day of his trip as an entry... people can comment on that vs. forums posting which kinda gets lost in the traffic.

He will have a chronological record of his trip.

Ride Reports - ever want to see a bunch of George's ride reports? well, you have to search for them, but with this, you can look at his blogs - if he chooses to document them there and you'll see.

You don't have to use them, it's just an added feature. A way to have YOUR area on the site that is a little more personalized. That's about it.

I think it's a fine idea and will probably enter my first post after the weekend. My daughter and I plan to ride in this Sunday's Chicagoland Ride for Kids.

I was just trying to read a loooooooong trip report on Total Ruckus (http://totalruckus.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12143) (pointer from Dick Seng over at ST-Riders.) Anyway, a couple hunnert pages of comments with the rider/writer's posts lost in the shuffle. A blog would have been much more useful for that. I gave up, but the guy took great pictures.

I thought Mac's "locked" thread worked pretty good with only his info in the link.

The only problem with that is we had to admin that function so only a person in a certain usergroup could post and no one else could reply.. but, if we gave that to everyone it would turn into a normal forum and defeat the purpose. It was originally setup for Curt to post his IBA progress via cell phone.
