I got to EaSTOC (Ironhorse MC Campground) about 1:30 on Thursday and just hung around talking to people.

Friday, Rode the Gap very early w/George Catt and Tim Graham then came back and rode through NC w/BlueBentAero, NCSam and Chris Parker. Great Riding!.. Thanks to Gary (BlueBentAero) for leading us on a nice little tour of the area.

I headed back towards Texas on Saturday after breakfast, decided to to the natchez trace pkwy from TN to MS but after about 50 miles the heat was really getting to me so I headed back to the interstate for some higher speeds and better air movement. It seemed that all the State Parks in Arkansas on I-30 were full... I checked 3 of them then decided to just keep riding into Texas where I found Bob Sandlin State Park and stayed for the night. Got back this morning.

It was great meeting people from the boards and the list.

Attached are some pics, I didn't take as many as I wanted to but I was so busy riding...

EaSToc was GREAT! My first opportunity to hang with other ST'ers. All super guys and gals! Met and rode with a lot of new friends. Started Thurs. morning meeting MotoRev1 and several ST'ers for the ST Hoot ride. Did the "Dragon" at Deals Gap and then the Cherohala Parkway. Thanks Bill for putting the ride together.

EaSToc participants started coming in Thursday. Although I didn't count the number of ST's, we were definetely the majority at the Ironhorse Motor Lodge! The unofficial official disorganizer, Bill Webb did a fantastic job of organizing the disorganized! Enjoyed meeting and riding with the "legend in his own mind" ... "MELLOW"! He can handle that humongus "wing" pretty darn well on the twisties in North Carolina. Fortunately, no one got hurt - I believe everyone had a good time. We were all concerned late Saturday when two of our own didn't show up until very late ... glad ya'll were OK Tim & Diana from Calgary!

Pictures are a combination of both rides.

Good meeting up with Bill, Sam, Jim and others at Deal's Gap and then riding over to Ironhorse and on to Robbinsville. Sorry I couldn't join everyone for lunch, had too many mountain roads to ride before getting home at a semi-reasonable hour. Ended up with 500+ miles for the day, less than 100 of it on the super slab. Good riding and good meeting others!

Here are a couple pics Killboy got of me on the Dragon at EaSTOC. I ran into this guy on the GoldWing on 116 in TN on the way home. He WORE ME OUT for about 15 miles across that road - literally. My hands were getting numb and I backed off for a second and he passed me down hill going into a right hand curve, which turned out to be decreasing radius !!!!! He slamed the Wing over, sparks flying and the rear hopping across the patches in the pavement and throttled right out of it. I ran behind him for the rest of the probably 20 miles of that road. 116 is a narrow road about 1.5 lanes wide with a double yellow down the middle and very twisty. We were running 85 and 90mph at times on that road and everyone we passed along the way you could see their jaws hit the ground as we came by. I have never seen anyone treat a Goldwing that way and I would have never believed it in a hundred years, but if don't let anyone tell you that a Goldwing won't handle - they WILL. He said he put several sportbikes to shame on the Dragon that weekend and I believe him.

Is that scraping when you are rounding the corners?

Dave...

Yeah, that's Rick (Yellow Wolf) from Florida. He's known for throwing a wing around pretty good.

The scraping you hear are pegs, lower cowl and even crashbars. These guys are using about all the rubber, metal and plastic you can in a turn. Me, I'm a little more conservative...
