View Full Version : STeed STicks -- Powder Coat
I got my STeed STicks today.
I have sent them out to a shop to have them powder coated black. As soon as they are "dechromed" and discreet black - I will post pictures.

Wes,
I will be bugging you for multiple angles on those pics. Chrome is the only reason I haven't ordered a set yet. What kind of price did the PC'er give you to do the job?
I am not sure yet as to what this will cost. I decided to do it - damn the torpedoes. -- UPDATE - Cost = $25
I asked a good friend who does my auto body work (I have 4 driving kids) and he gave me the name of another guy who does all the body shop powder coating.
I looked up the Powder Coat guy and he turned out to be a guy I went to High School with. After the "reunion", he told me he would take care of the job pronto.
Basically you take out the long center bolt in the foot peg and the rubber cleats come right out. The frame that comes with the kit that mounts to the engine guard rails is already powder coated black. My buddy is going to lightly blast the chrome so the powder coat will bond. He will then match the black color of the mounting brackets. He is going to hang foot pegs and chrome mounting hardware and coat it all.
I don't think it is going to cost very much to do this job. I will report back on that aspect when I get the bill.
I will take a lot of pictures so you can get a look at how it turns out. I Know these STeed STicks will be a lot less noticable when the chrome is covered.
