I called and talked to the manager at the Motel and she gave us a rate of $50 per room!!! :bow1: Very nice lady,,, and the rooms are well taken care of... She has as this moment 33 rooms on Friday,,, 32 rooms on Saturday... All but 7 rooms as of August 1st are Non-Smoking just to let you know... Just tell them you are with the Motorcycle Group" to get the rate...

We can schedule where we are going to be,,, at what time if,,, say,,, Putt wants to stay at the Museum longer,,, and didn't give a lick about J & P Cycle??? He could just know we will be showing up at the Candy Kitchen around 1 pm...

This has been,,, and always will be a special RTE for me and many others...

David Kruger aka,,, Jackpine Savage was planning on arriving and visiting with a group of us who just decided to get together to have a RTE back in 2006... I was excited because I was heading,,, to the West Coast on a "Planned" 11,500 mile trip over 18 days,,, and David was just returning from a West Coast trip... David and I had talked many times about roads and maps he was going to scout out for me,,, and clue me in on as,,, you all KNOW,,, I am Clueless... :o:

The day came,,, and it was,,, H O T!!! There was a good bunch show up,,, but many,,, because of the heat stayed home... We all thought David/Jackpine had decided that Air conditioning sounded better than sweating in a parking lot... I was disappointed not to visit with David,,, and get the maps but,,, never thought anything bad had happened... I left without my maps which,,, I guess I did not need as I crashed in Montana just 4 days later... :(

Days later,,, we found out that David had died just before leaving to attend the RTE at Galena when he struck a Deer...

So,,, each year we all get together and visit just as he would have wanted us to do...

I hope any/all/everyone who are able,,, can make it up for the 2 Nights/1 Night/Just the day...

The ST has a transmission issue that won't be fixed any time soon. I managed to get it to Richland Center yesterday and I'll have to wait until at least tomorrow for any word on it because they aren't open today. My guess is that it will be a month or more before I see the bike again. I may post more about the issue in another thread.

I just wanted people to know that I will most likely not be able to make it. I'll hold my hotel room until I know more.

In the same general area is the St. Olaf Tap with (allegedly) the world's largest tenderloin. Also 1 pound precooked. Just had one a couple weeks ago. :)

Friday night we will have people showing up riding in from many miles... We need to find a local place that is the BESTEST place to eat there in Anamosa,,, or,,, very near there at least...

It's the Wilton Candy Kitchen. We'd have to call ahead, but it certainly meets our general requirement for excess calories. No one is able to resist the ice cream from this place.

Let me know if we're interested and what day, and when we get a little closer I'll call ahead. I think it's pretty much only a lunch / snack place these days, so we'd have to hit it mid day.

I got this question from a great friend who,,, will remain nameless... I am only posting what he asked as it really does help answer a question many might have...

I'm also concerned about the fact that it looks like you guys are trying to stuff 10 lbs of "stuff" in a five pound bag. To me, if the museum is worth a lick at all, an hour and one-half seems hardly enough time to really see everything. I'm the kind of dummy that will stand and stare at one of the dioramas here at our museum for 20 minutes. :hyp1:

We have most who want to see the Museum... But,,, after about 1 1/2 hours will be ready to move... This will allow them too... If you are not ready,,, STAY!!!

If you want to take 3 hours??? Do it!!! You will miss us at the J & P Cycle and maybe the Ice Cream Thingy but can still catch up at the field of Dreams,,, or,,, Supper...

Everyone can show at each site,,, but you are in no way required too!!!
Might be better to tell people to pick and choose 3 things off the list of 5 or,,, think of this as a "Sampler Plater" so you can hit them all,,, and go back someday to spend more time!!! ;)

it is true, I have not been well since Sat., there not sure what is the problem, yes again I managed to stump the docs. I have curently been in the hospital since Monday, hopein to be released wed.(praying anyway) All I know so far is my liver is enlarged(no I'm not a drinker) they were thinking a form of hepititas at first but has ruled that out now. They did a liver biopsy today(damn did that hurt) after she numbed me she tried going in an rammed my rib.....OUCH lets just say I screamed and cried like a baby, then I got the good drugs and didn't feel a thing.... but anyway doc says I can most likely go home tomorrow and find out results on thursday..... SO..... my plan is to still make it... i most likely will have to take it easy, but I still want to be there... if the bike is to much, well I guess Rich can take the bike and I can take the car. Hey Ya can't say I'm not a trooper anyway....thank God for hospital internet, still got a feel of home anyway... hope to see you all in a few days

John, it was a pleasure to finally meet you. If I lived within a coupl of hunnert miles of that place, we would have an RTE once month and a pie run daily!!!! You certainly steered me in the right direction with that walnut pie. I didn't go overboard with and have it ala mode though.

Sandy and I had a great time too. You helped make her feel at home in her new state. (I think she was worried she might never see an ST again!) And you all don't know how much we lucked out on the weather. August can be very hot and muggy around here.

Well not to get off topic here, but i did say I would post after the doctor..... well good news, sorta anyway, my liver was messed up because of 1 of my medications, not sure which yet( there are many) but we are working on it, so all will be good in no time.

Well that is good news. You don't have to worry about getting 2/3's of it cut out. That's why I'm afraid to go to a doctor, I might have to start taking pills. I'd forget to take 'em and then take too many and.............
