Yooper Stoc 2 was a great success, 25 bikes total were at the festivities at one time or another, we had 2 tire mishaps, Viggo picked up a chunk of metal in his rear tire on the Copper Country ride, and successfully patched it with the gummy worms and continued on. We had a valve stem failure on Dave’s GL1800 front tire, when he arrived at my place he was down to 16 psi, a visual check of the tire showed nothing, but when the stem was pushed on a little, the crack in the rubber portion of the oem valve stem reared its ugly head. A trip to the auto parts store and a removal of the tire soon had a replacement stem installed and everything was back to normal. The group consumed a 32 quart pot full of chili along with some other fixings and later on the campfire was enjoyed by all. We had a brief but heavy T storm on Friday evening that a few of the riders got caught in. Saturday was in the mid 70’s for highs with some wind for the ride to Copper Harbor. The ride to pictured rocks was split into two groups of 5 riders apiece and we leap frogged our way to lunch at the Bear Trap and pasty’s. The return ride took us to the old sac base where there is a display of some of the aircraft that were stationed here when the base was operational. Saturday evening we ate at Rodney’s, pizza, cudighi, and some other dishes were consumed by a bunch of hungry riders, followed by ice cream bars. Saturday night more camp fire, some liquid refreshments and lots of stories. Sunday morning everybody packed up and were on their way home by 9:30. Thanks to one and all that came, Dannyk

Looks like a good time was had by all. As a Michigander, I would have liked to have attended, but Vintage Motorcycle Days was also this weekend, and I don't miss VMD. Maybe next year if the dates don't conflict. How were the mosquitoes?

Danny,

Thank you for all you did to make for a wonderful weekend. Steve and I had a great time!!

It's so much fun meeting new people and putting faces to names. It was also great seeing people that we had met earlier.

We trust everyone had a safe trip home! We took the long way and got back around noon, today.

Danny, Thank you for your tremendous hospitality. It was nice meeting everyone and having a nice fire to dry out at. :-)

It is amazing what some of you experienced guys ride through. We hit, what I think was a pretty bad thunderstorm, and I admit I had to stop for a few minutes as the combination of wind, horizontal rain, and face shield fogging got the best of me. When we arrived at Danny's, the other guys I was with it was, "Yeah we hit some rain." No big deal, la dee da. Holy crap, hit some rain!! I have some more experience to gain, but I am taking steps toward that.

I left my camera in the fairing pocket all weekend to dry out and when I got home it was working again. This was my first STOC event, 1102 miles in 3 days, my farthest 3 day weekend. I think that is a day's worth for some of you guys.

Incident free until I got about 3 miles from my house. WI RT 31 is a divided highway and right in front of the Jelly Belly factory in Pleasant Praire just clearing a little rise is a guy coming at me, did I mention divided highway, WTH. He was in the left lane (probably thought it was his right lane) I swerve to my right and aimed for the shoulder. As he passed me he blew his horn and stuck his arm out the window with the #1 sign. He sooned realized that HE was in error as the group of cars that were behind me cleared the hill and he found himself diving for the shoulder of the road.

Wow, Scout! close call...talk about an adventure for your first event!
I had something very simular happen to me in TN. once in the smokies....
2 lane switched to 4 - (to divided...) and all of the sudden a car was coming right at me...I was riding my Triumph, and left my bags at the motel...If I would have left the bags on, I would have been clipped for sure!

Now I'm even more bummed I missed it, but I was stuck at work all weekend anyway.

Scout: Nice ST1100...last year I was the only 1100, I believe.

Hope to see some of you at WiSTOC in September.

Danny, thank you very much for hosting this event! You really did a fine job with everything! It has been years since I have been up in the UP and this trip really makes me want to get up there more often.

It was nice to meet some new faces in the crowd and to touch base again with many others. A great weekend that I won't soon forget, thanks.
