View Full Version : ST Friendly Dealers

Due to the trouble many seem to be having with finding a quality dealership, I figured a post that contains ST friendly dealers might be beneficial. Obviously, personal experiences may vary but it's another tool available.

So, do you have a dealer that has treated you right consistently? Well, tell us the dealership and how they've helped you. This can be an opportunity to let riders know the dealers that will help. As it goes, I'll do my best to list them by state, and if it goes that far, country.

Thanks. Any stories or reasons why they're a good dealership?

They have been my sole dealer of choice since 1999. Bought both STs from them. Everyone knows my name and I know theirs. They always take care of me. The entire staff is a great bunch!

Madera Honda & Suzuki,
The sales man Jeff S is a great up front guy, no dicking around, some times they may not be able to compete as for the lowest price, but it's doing business teh good ole fashion way, where a mans word is a mans word.

I bought my Hayabusa there, I was in a hurry to get home and didn't look it over good enough, when i got home I found a few tiny marks that made it look like it had been dropped or laid against some thing, the service manager said BS, were not covering it (he's no longer there) Jeff said BS yes we are, if Brian said he did not drop it, then the damage was there when he picked it up,

I took it back in months later, I had pretty much for got about it, Jeff asked why I didn't bring it back for the parts to be replaced, (Mirror, bar end, and Slip on) I said I didn't want to deal with the SVC guy or wait for parts, he went in back, got some tools and robbed the parts I needed off a floor bike, and said, there ya go, no waiting, I did not have him change out the slip on, you almost had to use a magnifying glass to see the mark,

If your in the Cali central valley, go see Jeff, he's a great guy, maybe not the lowest price , but you will not get screwed over either.

Honda Suzuki North in Farmers Branch. Great service and they actually delivered on service times as promised. Barry in the sales dept. was very helpful and honest when I was looking for a new ride. I shopped 2 other dealers (Grapevine and Denton) and this was the only place that treated me like a customer. The others just acted like they were doing me a favor by selling me a bike. Highly recomended.:D

Family-owned, friendly and seemingly knowledgeable. Sponsors--and really supports--a local HRCA chapter. Gives 10% parts discount to HRCA or AMA members (one discount only). Not my closest Honda dealer, but the only one I go to.

Callaway Motorsports- Riverside CA. They service a lot of ST's. I know a great guy that works in the service dept that can be trusted and rides an ST. He has saved me lots of money on service and I received an ST Owners discount on parts. Thanks Adam!!

Add me to the Bob-Jo plus side. Bought my first 91 ST there and also my 95 VFR. Chuck always treated me good. No service history, tho, as I do all my own work.

Chuck is a rider, knows bikes, knows riders, know how to run a shop.

My opinion,

Another plus from me. Ask for Michelle at the parts counter, she know part numbers by heart! Knows me by name tho I might get in there only once a year.

Never bought a bike or had service done there, but bought lots of parts over the years. Good shop, good folks.

Brian Ballard-parts counter. very patient and willing to help great guy

Service managers are very helpful and understanding. I bought a used set of wheels for my VTX and they spent 30 minutes rigging up a way to make sure they were not bent and to check run out on them. CHarged me nothing.

Noticed I had a cracked lense another time, not sure who but guy puts a new one on and I said AND gave me a spare they had laying around in case it did it again.

Ladies in accessories spent probably 2 hours helping me find a helmet that I liked over 3 different visits. Just could not decide on fitment. Bought a Nolan N102 from somewhere else as they were out and they still helped me install the headset.

Guys in used department have given me backrests, old saddlebags, extra exhaust all from pull offs of trade ins and such without me asking. THye just seen I needed them and offered.

In sales Stacy Yates is the man for sure, bought 2 bikes from him in last year.

Not experts on the ST by any means, but they care more than the average STealer. (And they have Moly Paste in stock).

For Tire Mounting if the wheels are already off the bike (not a dealer, but who cares)

Fairfax Cycles 703-591-8556

They'll even let you stand there and watch so you can make sure they're not scratching your rims.

Iron Horse M/C's in Monroe, NC. They are family owned and operated. The same service mgr has been there since before I started using them in 1997! They have serviced my '94 ST, '98 VFR and now my '06 ST. They replaced my t-stat under warranty, no questions asked. They mount tires when I take the wheels in for $35! They even have free hot dogs every Saturday!!

This is only a positive rating for the service department, not the dealership as a whole.

The parts guys know parts and the service guys know service. On time, done right the (extremely few) times I have had something done. Apointments are at the worst, close. Parts come when they say, and are easy to deal with. Not cheap, but good.

+2 Chuck is always trying to get me to buy the CRF125. He knows I want one. I always try to get him to sell me one of his track bikes but he doesn't budge.

I have no positive comments on any of the dealers near me. On the positive side they are big, but the negative is they are big. None of them carry any ST specific inventory. I have always had to order parts.
Adam: PM me with your dealership. If I have never tried them, I promise to give you guys a looks see.

Small dealership, but they take pride in their workmanship. Told them we'd be doing a lot of riding this summer and they gave my ST a thorough going over pro bono, pointing out a few things I might want to take care of before our trip. Friendly to boot!

Chattanooga, Tennessee, Honda Southern Powersports (or something like that)... Anyway, was on a trip and was quickly running out of tires... The guy at the service desk also rides an ST13 and was planning on going on a trip in a week or two... He sold me HIS tires ('cause the dealership didn't stock 'em) at a DISCOUNT and rushed me through the service... I asked him to join our little club here and he said no... that would take away from his riding time... :D

Does it have to be a dealership?

Valley Motorsports in Ansonia is kind of an all around wrench shop. They'll fix anything. They worked on my 1st Gen Yamaha Venture and they've had my ST1100 in twice. THe first time they did the 40 amp upgrade for me. This last time, new brakes and tires.

They also have a small store where they sell some gear but they don't sell bikes.

Honda/Suzuki World -- Warwick, RI

Very dedicated staff. They've always been friendly and respectful, even when I came in as a newbie. They're recommendations have always been right on, and they've saved me some money via those recommendations as well.

The service I've received from them has always been top-notch! Every time I've taken my bike into their shop, it has been returned in absolutely tip-top shape! At one point, I had gone in to pick up a new air filter and commented about an annoying issue I was having. Even though it was 15 minutes after quitting time, the service manager and two of his employees overheard, stopped gearing up to go home, and came out and checked out my bike to make sure it wasn't something that needed more urgent attention (it wasn't, thank Heavens!). The teamwork was excellent. While two checked my bike, the third went inside and retrieved the manuals so they could make sure that everything they were checking was to specifications.

I can't say that they've worked on STs. They do sell a lot of sport bikes, V-twins and some Goldwings. But I trust their attention to detail and know that they will pull out the manuals when faced with a bike with which they are unfamiliar. One of their mechanics is (was?) an MX racer. He understands that even the most trifling detail can have significant impact on the performance and safety of the bike.

Another downside: their service department is ALWAYS swamped with work! (That makes a pretty good hint of the work they do!) So you will have to set up an appointment ahead of the date, or accept that there will be a wait while your bike drifts up the queue.

I personally would recommend their work!

Desoto Honda, they went above and beyond to fix my ST when it was pulling right. You might want to double check if you have them mount a tire for you though, they mounted my rear backwards even with a chinese blueprint on the sales floor. http://www.desotohonda.net/

After 2 bad batteries from another dealership their tech came out to the parking lot (as well as the dude who runs the service department) and tested my battery, charging system, etc... problems fixed.

Hawkeye motorworks in Davenport, Iowa http://www.hawkeyemotorworks.com/default.asp Whenever I've had to take it in there, they always are helpful. Haven't had to take it in, in a long time.
Also, when I went to WeSToc in Redmond, Washington, I had occasion to use Everett Powersports http://honda.everettpowersports.com/home_honda.asp for a tire change enroute. Seems like a first-calss outfit. Very friendly.
