The weekend of August 6 - 7 - 8 and 9th in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula YOOPERSTOC “3“, this is an informal gathering of riders, meet and greet, travel to the UP. Take in the Great Lakes of North America. Come and meet some old friends or make new ones, Yoopers as we locals are called comes from living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan thus shortened to the UP by many, finally came to be YOOPER.

Marquette is 30 miles away with plenty of Lodging,
Munising is 42 miles away with plenty of Lodging,
Escanaba is 50 miles away with plenty of lodging.
Campgrounds there are several federal and state forest campgrounds in the area (primitive and a short ride down a dirt road)
Also there is the tourist park, located on the east branch of the Escanaba river in the town of Gwinn.
Horseshoe lake is a private campground and has showers etc. 906 346 9937 they have a group camping area and I believe some rental units.

Your on your own for food and drinks

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, the wood fired grill will be going, bring yourself something to cook or visit some of the local eateries, UP North Lodge is ¾ of a mile away.
Rodney’s is about 3 miles away serving pizza’s and cudighi sandwiches.

Suggested road rides, Grab a map or down load the route you wish to ride and head out on your own or with a group, your choice. There is nothing formal about this get together.


Ride #1 Saturday to the Keweenaw Peninsula up to Copper Harbor a 350 mile round trip.

Ride #2 Saturday to the harbor in Marquette and to Miners Castle east of Munising.

Ride #3 The iron mining museums, one in Ishpeming, and one just outside of Negaunee, and a stop at the local Tourist Trap in Ishpeming.

Ride #4 Ride to Seney wildlife refuge.

Ride #5 Ride to Fayette State park and the Big Spring ( will need state park sticker, or day use pass)

This will be the full moon weekend, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evening for those that want to ride the south shore of the Big Lake, stop at one of the pull offs and take in the moon rise.

Dual sport rides are also very nice in the area________________

With feedback that I asked for from some of the attendee’s from the last couple of events I have added a couple of more shorter rides, and am working on a Friday night fish fry and a couple of other things, more to come later.

I am seriously considering this one. Have not been to the UP since leaving in 1994. Beautiful area when it is not snowing. Saw snow one fourth of July while at a friends house on Little Lake.....:(

Summer came on a Thursday that year and I had to work..:D
