I thought I would share this as a balance to other reports I have read about Cee Bailey.

I have had a +6W+2H CB shield for a year and a half. To make a long story short I started experimenting with windshield lengths and venting. I recently ordered my replacement shield to use what I had learned. I ordered a shield without their vent as I would cut my own. I was not paying attention and messed up my order. I ordered the wrong height. I responded to the confirmation email with the correction. The shield arrived with the correct length but it had the CB vent. Apparently when someone corrected the order the shield became a "normal" shield. In other words, it had the vent. The shield arrived on a Friday. I called CB. They acknowledged the error and said they would send a call tag to pick up the shield and ship me a new shield. The new shield production would be expedited. On Monday UPS picked up the shield and on Tuesday the new shield arrived. I live within one day ground shipping from CB.

The optical quality of my first CB and these two recent ones was very good.

Norman,

Have you experienced any visible cracks in your cee bailey shields? I'm seeing very small cracks inside the shield that don't make it to the surface. You have to have the light coming from just the right angle to be able to see them.

I gave my old shield a look. I could see no problems. That shield is 23 months old as of now.

I am replacing my +4/+4 CB shield with a Clearview, which, I hope, will arrive any day. I'm replacing it, not because it doesn't work, but I don't like the vent and the air that comes up through it, and I'm not wild about the shape. Also, there is a lot of wind that comes in around the bottom sides and causes buffeting. Also, the optical clarity is mediocre, in that there is quite noticeable distortion a few inches from the top. I ordered mine with the "Euro" cut on the top edge, and I don't like how it looks. As far as protection goes, it seems to work OK, but I want to go elsewhere with a windshield. I'll say one thing for the Cee Bailey--it's hell-for-stout being a quarter of an inch thick!

The no vent model is great....its alot thicker then stock......the first one I got was in the stock size its 2.5" wider and 1.5" higher ...almost no wind noise at all and for some reason less back pressure and the ice blue is way cool.........I did hear that some guys that ordered the vent got real bad blurred vision around the vent area (so just do not buy it with a vent) and be carfull about the size also...remember stock and all the other sizes run a little larger;)

Didn't you place an order and change your mind after they started manufacturing the shield. If memory serves me you did not like how they responded to your request for a change.

Yep, I ordered a 6 width and a guy said there is a 2 week turnaround. I called the next day to change it to a 4. He said its too late... I therefore decided to do business elsewhere because he was kinda nasty on the phone... He did not even ride a motorcycle! However, Clearview (John) took the time to explain STuff to me and was extremely polite.

Some people like the Clearview vents and some dont.I think they look great. How do the vents affect the ride overall? I'm waiting for mine!
I noticed Marks' shields have vents too.. Whats up...?
