Time to buy new rain boots. My old ones are several years old. Took them out of the rain gear bag the other day, and they are all dried out and cracked... needless to say, they are no longer rain proof :(

So what's everyone using?

Number one on the list when I googled "motorcycle rubber rain boot", was this offering from FirstGear;

My wife and I both really like our 2-piece FirstGear rain suites.
Anyone try these FirstGear rain boots? Are they rugged enough?
They look just like the old Totes we used to have.
At $13.99, the price certainly looks right.

I normally wear Cruiser Works boots, but I purchased the Tour Master boot covers several weeks back for the times when I'm caught unexpectedly in the rain or have on my work shoes. I put them to the test this weekend. Great product for $15. Wore them for several hours in some fairly heavy rain without a drop on my shoes. Granted, they won't last very long if you are in stop/go traffic or are a foot dragger, but I couldn't be happier.

I got away from rain boots several years ago, totes etc. hated the dance along side of the road from an impending rain shower. I bought a set of Alpinstars gore tech boots, waterproof and comfortable to wear all day long while riding or walking to see something. :biker:

Ditto on the Sidis (http://tinyurl.com/9ysrb)

But if you're going to use the "Totes" style, I'm sure you know the trick of putting plastic bags over your riding shoe/boots before pulling on the Totes.

Dainese Goretex boots... why even bother with non water proof, non Gore tex type boots. Plus I want armor on my feet, shin,ankle,heel... wearing good, protective, MC specfic gear starts at the feet!

I just purchased a pair of "Cortec" waterproof boots while at the Honda Hoot. Was going to get a pair of Oxtar's, but the Cortecs were $60 cheaper and IMHO softer and more comfortable

Goretex Rocky Mountain. I've been through a 2 hour long drenching rain and they didn't leak.

Waterproof Alpinestar Goretex Stage touring boots. Super comfy, only drawback is that Goretex boots can be a little hot on really hot days.

Totes, $12 a pair at the mega mall store.
Heres a tip, if you dont all ready know: When slipping on Totes( or other rubber outer boots) you will find the rubber soles of your riding boots gripping the outer boots and making it a bit difficult to get on.(especially when wet).
To eliminate this first slip a plastic produce bag over your boot, then slide your foot into the rubber outer boot. Your foot will slide right in!
I grab a few of these bags at the grocery in the produce section and keep one stored inside each Tote.

I really tested my New Alpinestar waterproof boots on Monday outside of Madison, WI. Twice the clouds opened up with torrential downpours within 15 minutes. Cars were pulling off of the road and the cars still on the road were down to 35 MPH. My left Alpinestar boot leaked like a sieve! :( This was my first set of supposedly waterproof boots and they were a bust. Guess it's back to my Aerostitch boot rain covers. I am extremely disappointed in the Alpinestars.

Have two pair of Sidi's and never had so much as a drop get inside. The Champions are shorter and wear them in the summer. For cold-weather riding, The On-Road's.

BTW, the NewEnough folks are great to deal with. They carry several brands of boots:

I have a new pair of Gaerne ST Dry Touring Boots (Can't beat that name!). I was looking into the Oxtar boots, but was concerned with the width. I sent an email to Motorcycle Closeouts asking about the width of the Oxtars, and they suggested the Gaerne's since they were a little wider.

I like the boots, and they are comfortable. I have not had the opportunity (Riding in a downpour is an opportunity???) to test the waterproof claim yet.

I have been wearing the Oakley S.I. Assault Boot for couple years, waterproof, comfortable for walking/hiking and very durable, little pricey but am very pleased.

Alpinstar Waterproof work great for me ... dry in downpours ... protection good (tested, unfotunately) ... comfy.

They look like the boot pictured in the link at the start of this thread
