Dropped my SSMST for the first time.
Of course, it was at very low speed, nearly stopped. I'd been down to Pfeiffer Beach at Big Sur. The road is very low speed and narrow. It's single lane such that opposing traffic must use small pullouts to allow others to pass. The steepest part is just off Hwy 1--down to the beach, up back to the highway.
When I came to stop at the highway, I just had it too far over to the left and lost her. Went down pretty slowly. Didn't even dislodge the XM antenna from it's mount. I think I caught the bar end in my left thigh, as I have a pretty good bruise there. It popped the left tipover wing off and scuffed the lower corner of the left bag just a bit.
The intersection has a compound angle--neither the beach road nor the highway are flat. My best guess is I didn't adequately account for the angles.
I guy that was just turning onto the beach road stopped to help lift the bike. I was flustered enough with myself that I let him help. I was pretty embarrassed.
I 'spose $hit happens, eh?
