Sounds like it is time for another Oklahoma RTE. I'm thinking the 6th of September at noon at Knottypine BBQ in Tulsa. They are located at 3301 W
5th St. If there is enough interest we might go for a ride to Woolaroc after lunch.

Hope to see you there........ James

It looks like I might be able to make this one. (One week before the Indy MotoGP.) Two hours and forty minutes, 180 miles. Any of the rest of the KS crew want to go?

I could make it if the ride was on the 7th, but can't make the 6th. We will be on our way to KC for the annual V-Rod Rally at the Basswoods resort.

Good to here that several of you guys will be able to make this. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Rick, I would be happy to meet up and ride in together.
George, Aw come on man it's only a thousand miles give or take :)
TexTom, I have lived in Tulsa pretty much all of my life, and still have a weakness for Knottypine. :)
And if you guys would rather ride after lunch, we could skip Woolaroc and go for a ride

I'm onboard. Mmmm... barbeque...
Woolaroc sounds interesting to me. I haven't been there since 6th grade. :)

:( James, sounds great, but.....I'll be boarding the Norwegian Star in Seattle that day for a cruise to Alaska - bbq in Tulsa would be a lot less stressful!
You guys have fun!

Bummer yes. But I got a call about another job my second day at work. I can't turn down. A whole lot more money than my last job. 7 days on and 7 days off. And all my vacation that I had. I'm excited!

Hey Folks,
I am planning on making this ride. I still have to clear it with the Mrs...but she is usually pretty understanding about such things.
I did the mapquest thing, it's 226.4 door to door. Plus, I would get to add another state to my map!
I'll keep the fingers crossed that this works out! :06biker:

Excellent! I may just have to run up to Coffeyville after the feed so I can do the same (add Kansas) to my map.

 upon further review, I will not be making this trip. I have a teenage daughter who dances on the high school drill team. It appears they are marching in a local parade on Saturday morning. I might risk my father of the year status and ride, but the wife has to work that morning and I have to transport her to the event and take photographic proof of the event.
I hope that there will be another ride like this soon, and that I am free of family duties.

Just saw this and think I will be able to join. I have a restaurant 1 block from the Knotty Pine and we close at noon on Saturday. May be a few minutes late getting there due to getting my place closed, but would like to join you for the ride if I get there too late for lunch.

Oh man, I hate to do this, but...
(Talk about getting old and forgetful) Saturday is my wife's birthday. And it's not just ANY birthday. Although I probably shouldn't mention exactly WHICH ONE it is (somewhere between 49 and 51), let's just say that it would not be a prudent move for me to spend the day riding motorcycles instead of spending it with her.
For this reason, I'm going to have to back out as well. I'm really sorry, as I was very much looking forward to meeting several of you and the trip to Woolaroc as well. (I've already got all the waypoints and routes stored in my GPS). I will definetely make the next one.
Chew a couple of ribs for me...

I had good intentions of making it to Tulsa, but....
I met some friends for breakfast this morning and then we rode to a Honda supercenter in Shawnee, OK. After checking out gear, accessories, used & new bikes (looking to use some coupons sent to me in the mail)...I wasn't watching the clock closely enough and when I noticed it was 10:20 AM, I knew I didn't have enough time to make it for lunch. I ended up riding around the local area here and THINKING about how good that BBQ must taste at the Knotty Pine.
Anyway...sorry James I was a no-show!
I'm still curious how the ride was for those who attended, and yes...let's see some pics!

Hey Keith... So what ONE item did you get a 40% discount? I'm tempted to make that trip out there myself. I'm about due for a new helmet.

It was cold and raining at 6:00 AM here in Wichita, and the radar showed more of the same almost all the way to Tulsa. I went back to bed, and enjoyed a late breakfast at my favorite local place. I've ridden all day in the rain often enough to show that I'm stupid, no need to re-prove the obvious. I'll try to catch you next time.

Well we had 4 ST's there, 3-1300's and 1-1100, and we also had a Vulcan 500. Thanks to ST Rob, ST Ron, Krush, Tim and my g/f Rose who came out for some good BBQ. We got lucky, It quit raining a couple of hours before the posted time so no one got wet
W8NONU could not get off work but he stopped by and to say hello.
Rob, Ron, Rose and Myself took a nice ride afterwards. I had a senior moment and forgot my camera, So sorry but I did not get any pictures :shrug2:
It was good to finally meet some of the local ST owners, Thanks again guys.
Roger, I saw the radar Saturday morning, and I am glad you did not ride down for this. It would have been a wet ride the whole way for you.
OK, who's going to host the next Oklahoma RTE ?

When and where's the next ride to eat? Do you think we could do the Talimena Drive and have lunch at the lodge. It would be a pretty long Ride. What do you guys think. Just a suggestion. Maybe make it an overnight trip.

Talimena sounds great to me. What about the last weekend in Sep? (26, 27, 28). Maybe a late afternoon eat at the lodge (around 2 or 3 pm) to allow time for folks to make the ride without having to get up at 0'dark-thirty?
I think you're right...probably an overnighter staying in Mena, AR

That last weekend in September is the same weekend as Bikes, Blues and BBQ in Fayetteville. I'll be camping at Devil's Den State Park, and already have a rough plan to ride Talimina on Saturday with a group of friends from KC

I am off those days. But that is the week after NATSTOC. IS that to Close? It works for me. I'm just concerned about everybody else.
I work every other weekend. I'm off every other Fri, Sat, and Sun.
What about 10-11-08. That is 3 weeks after NATSTOC. Close to the last ride for the year for anybody to travel any distance. Cool enough to enjoy camping one last time but not to cold.
Hopefully some of our TX, ARK, MO, KS friends and any others can join us for a last get together of the year before it gets to cold.
Let me know what you guys think. Could be fun!
