Farklin the horn

Hey guys - the postman left my Stebel TM80/2 139 Db horn set while I was out riding today and we are both (me and the bike) very excited to get it installed! But since Helm doesn't have the manual in print at the moment and my local Honda dealers seem to be unable to sell me one - can someone give me a brief run-down on how to get the sides panels of the front fairing off?

Dan - the horn is accessed by removing the inner panel of the fairing - its on the right side of the bike - one phillips head screw and 4 or 5 push rivets - pull the head out on these and then pull the whole rivet completely out. there are also 2 rivets on the inside plastic (close to the frame) just on the outside of the right hand glove box. - these have a pin that must be pushed inwards and then pull the rivet out - its simpler than it sounds. Lastly, remove the panel from the front of the bike beside the front wheel assy. nb - there is a phillips head screw holding the outside temp sensor to this fairing piece as well - you will see it when you pull the panel out.

Thanks for the info, Mick. I decided to pull the right outer fairing panel instead since I needed to stuff some rather large horns in place of the stock one. I have some pictures for you guys - the fit is actually very comfortable and even has a good bit of clearance below the right side storage compartment.

I haven't decided where to pull power from yet. The two horns together are supposed to draw 12A total and the stock fuse is 15A, so I was considering running them in parallel on the stock circuit. Anyone wanna talk me out of that? If so, how would you recommend that I get power to them?

If the STs are like other Hondas, the stock horn wiring is woefully inadequate. Run a separate, fused circuit using at least 14g stranded wire. Use the stock horn wire as the trigger for the new relay that you will want to install.

Please be patient, I thought it will be simpler than that - but with your help it will be clear as crystal ....
If one wire come from directly from tha main source i.e. : the battery with of course a fuse line - and a relay
And two wires comes from the horn switch wich they are connected to the horn wich we intend to replace
Do I need another ground - Huh ! I'm f... confused :confused:
