I picked her up for a date in 1970 on my '68 Suzuki 250. She said I'll marry you, but the bike's got to go. I loved that bike, but the woman more. She was not an avid motorcyclist so I sold the bike and didn't ride for a long time.
Thirty years later, after two kids and the birth of our first grandchild, I returned home from work one birthday and found a pre-owned year 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan Drifter 1500 sitting in the driveway, with just 2K on the clock. She didn't want to ride it either, but I did. About a month ago with 20K on the odometer, I traded it in on an '05 ST with 404 miles on the clock.
So of course, she hasn't been aboard the ST and I don't force the issue.
I am happy alone on the ST. I don't want to even have a back seat anymore let alone replace it for hundred$.
I am interested in modifying by taking off the rear seat and using that space to mount a top box, with back rest (for me), instead of mounting the box on the rack.
Any info on modifying by removing the back seat?
Thanks,
LJG

Check out the Corbin Smuggler. It's a real trick storeage pod that goes over the back seat and makes for a terrific-looking solo set up. www.corbin.com

Adam's idea is great but, I think the Corbin Smuggler's box looks sharp.
Here's a NOTE/Warning on the Corbin site about using it with a top box.

"NOTE: The Smuggler will MOUNT with the Givi box, however the box DOES NOT allow the Smuggler door to open. The Givi box would have to be relocated 1'' or so toward the rear of the bike. We have not tested the Smuggler with the Hondaline top box and the Smuggler WILL NOT work with the Stealth Backrest."

Has anyone tried this with either the Honda Top box or the Givi box?

I'm thinking of combining the 2 in the future.
