View Full Version : SuperBrace - Check your bolts' tensions

If you fitted a SuperBrace quite some time ago, like I did when the groups.msn.com/ST1300US group-buy was on (last year?), and haven't checked it since, then it may be worth a quick look.

I just removed my SuperBrace ready for a 36,000 km dealer service tomorrow where I will be asking them to also replace the fork oil.

I found both inside bolts had little tension. They weren't yet so loose that they'd fall out, but they were really only light finger-tight. The 2 outside bolts seemed to be still tensioned up sufficiently.

When I did the original install, I followed the recommended installation process, including using a torque wrench to the required 10 ft/lb on all 4 bolts and rechecking a short time later after a few trips.

Makes me wonder how much good it was/wasn't doing in this condition!
Cheers
