I'll take the pictures after I decide that I'm keeping it, but the Clearview shield came in today. It took about half an hour to bolt on and it performed beautifully as expected on the first test ride. Max speed was 40MPH and with the shield in the low position, brackets mounted high, there was a nice breeze from the center vent between the shield and dash and from the NACA vents cut into the shield. The previously observed turbulent flow around the head and shoulders was gone.
The shield arrived nicely packaged in a box, completely surrounded by some kind of synthetic fiber blankets and covered in a light plastic film. The label on the shield clearly indicated that the customer may return the shield within 30 days as long as the film is intact and the shield undamaged. So I cut the film from one of the vents and from the bolt and screw holes and mounted it with the film still on it and took it for a spin.
All in all, I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the Clearview shield so far. The company was very easy to deal with and they produced my shield and sent it when they said the would. The price was reasonable and so far the performance is exactly what I was looking for. :)
Once I have the film off, I'll take some nice pics and post them.
Try it at high speeds with vents open and than with vents covered with tape before you remove film. I did this with mine and wind noise with vents covered is greatly reduced at high speeds. You might be surprised with vents closed. They will exchange it if you perfer no vents after testing, 30 day return is great Ireturned mine for a non-vented unit with 10 day turn around.John is very good to deal with. My wife loves this new shield she says she can now look to the side past me without getting whiplash!!

Gene, do you notice that your clearview shield seems to shake and vibrate more than the stock shield did? I'm thinking this might be caused by all the wrinkles in the film, but I'd hate to remove the film and find that it's something else.
Second ride was up to 80mph and I still like the shield. The wind seems to be brought around the sides more and I get a good solid breeze on the sides of my torso. The flow is not turbulent, which I like. I still get wind noise at the top of my helmet unless I raise the shield, but I have to keep the shield down with the film on - frankly I want to keep the shield all the way down anyhow.

How is it with the back pressure compared with stock?

Can you post a pic of the shield, even with the film on it? They don't have any pics on the website and my stock shield is so scratched up I may get a new one someday.

I sent an email to Clearview and they responded back within a day with pics of the new shield as well as answering my questions. I've tried cutting and pasting their reply into here, but it doesn't work.
Question for Gene ... do you ride with your shield up (is so how high) or leave it down when riding with a passenger?
Vince
I have a non- electric shield and only run it in low position. With the flip up in shield air stream goes over my head by about an inch .Ride without your left glove on and raise your bare hand in front of your face and see were air stream hits with stock shield it was at bottom of helmet. Clearveiws are wider and have more shape than stock which pushes air out past my shoulders which allows my wife to look around me with out turbulance . We also wear fullface helmets

Gene .. thanks for the info. Since I ride 2 up most of the time it will be helpful in determing the size of shield to go with. Did u end up with the small or medium shield? Do you still find you get sufficent airflow without the vents? I do mind the noise (full face with ear plugs) as I prefer some air movement to still air. I the electric shield so it will give me room for adjustment.
Vince
I went with size medium but made mounting modifications after install. It is possible to lower shield about 1.5 inches by redrilling mounting holes higher up on shield which puts bottom of shield almost touching top of mirror covers and giving me a total hieght same as a GT-SMALL that is below my line of sight.

Gene ... how tall are you? I'm 5'10 and based on the Medium CalSci windshield I had briefly installed (which was 2 inches higher) I was still comfortablly able to look over the top. I raised the stock shield higher on the mounting brackets which I believe moves it up 2 inches and because the angle doesn't change (in the lowest position) I am looking well over the top.
Vince
Vince I'm about 6'1" and perfer the shield at a height about even with the bottom of my helmet.Looking through helmet shield and bike shield is too much plastic for my eyes it causes me trouble.

I have the Clearview too and have just not fallen in love w/it. I think it's better than the stock shield but I still get some buffeting and plenty of windnoise. I hate looking thru the shield--to me the perfect set up would be very little windnoise/buffeting with the shield about at the bottom of my nose. Just don't know if it exists. Still searching. I am going to try your recommendation on taping up the vents although it's too late for me to return mine. Thanks.

Ok, I just took a 200 mile ride with the Clearview and I think I'm sending it back. It does seem to smooth out the airflow past my sides, but this was never a problem. The only way I can get it to smooth out around my head is to raise the shield and all that does is block the air, which is not really what I'm looking for. Especially not when it's 100° F out.

Here's a pix of a GT small. Got it installed last week and had a chance to put a couple of hours on it today, for the most part at freeway speeds with the shield either all the way down or maybe 15-20% up. Pleased with the results. I'll be keeping mine, quite a bit better than stock. 5' 10", Russell seat, Heli block

What I'm really looking for in a shield is not for it to block the airflow, but to shift it more gently, allowing or even encouraging that airflow to be laminar. This will eliminate the wind noise and buffeting and still allow ventilation - critical when it's always 100°F or more.
Seems like most of the shields out there prefer the option of blocking the airflow or abruptly shifting it up (the flip-up concept).
Is anyone aware of a shield that curves back toward the rider at the top?

I spoke with John at Clearview today and they are being ultra-reasonable about the return and they're going to work with me to come up with a custom solution. :)

My wife went with the GT medium shield with the side "catseye" vents. She's 5'8" and loves the CV shield. She also has an '04 ST, so she can vary the height to suit any riding situation.
I went with the GT large with the vents. So far I haven't done anything but install it in the low position and go for a short test ride. I've decided to keep it as it does what I need it to do, and I can see well over the top of the windshield without having to strain. I'm 6'2" but I'm short legged with a long torso, so I needed the extra height of the GT large on my '03 non-ABS. As long as the shield is in an ideal position, I don't really feel the need for the electrically adjustable feature, but it would be nice. My wife keeps mentioning something about Santa Claus!! LOL :p:
My assessment of the windshield is that it is high quality and optically clear. The mounting holes matched the bikes bracket perfectly. Coupled with the ST1300 under mirror deflectors, I no longer get the annoying buffeting blast of wind coming up into my face from the sides. I'll be going on a nice 270 mile ride this Saturday. I'll know more about the windshield after that.

Clearview are good people. I went with the GT small and will be keeping it. It's just a bit larger than stock, and with the flip and the vents it's good for a spring/fall shield. I'm off to the glass shop in the morning to get ~2" cut off the top of my stocker for summer.

Also got a Clearview - GT Medium, light gray. I am pleased with it, less noise than the stock winshield, with superb finish and optics. I got mine with the vents, which do not seem to created turbulence or noise. I am happy with CV.
Here is a couple of pictures of the GT Medium on an '05.

A fellow NH member hooked me up with a killer deal on a GT Med. that he had tried, and didn't find to be the answer to his needs... luckily, we found it to be a huge improvement! Clear shield, no vents, much better pocket both 1 and 2 up - my wife had previously been rather unhappy with the airflow at slab + speeds, we tested it sunday at 120 indicated without any complaint. We give it 4 thumbs up!
