Criteria:
1. Elevation is reachable driving only on pavement.
2. Legally accessible to public. (Toll may be required.)
3. Road must normally be open in summer, but may be closed in winter.

Of course, Norman, we expect you will confirm these altitudes personally, individually, using your GPS. Let me know when you're heading up Mt. Greylock in Massachusetts and I'll meet you for lunch.

Nice Norman....

AZ 9,560 Arizona Snow Bowl
AZ 9,370 ~4 mi. S of Hannagan Meadow (US 191)

Chris and I rode 191 10 days ago... we'll have to go up to Snow Bowl soon...

Anyone want to get a picture of a bunch of STs up in Snow Bowl and everyone share the leader board (well until all those other state riders get active? :D

I make no claims to accuracy. Just got this info from the web. Got sick of trying to find the link so once I found it today to post in the "Beat this Elevation" thread I posted the info here so I can find it in the future.

Maybe Mellow or Charlie can Sticky the topic so it is at the top of the Great Roads forum in the future.

I will "verify" the two California listings when I can plan my Death Valley, Mt Whitney portal, Tom's Place/Rock creek, Tioga pass run. Lowest in US to highest cul-de-sac and through road in California in a single day. Getting a room in the Sierra's in the summer is impossible on short notice and quite $$$.

Norman, I am not picking on you. Just the data you got from somewhere.

But, Snow Bowl is NOT Paved, unless they call dirt that is packed down paving nowadays!!!

Are you saying that the roads to the lodges and/or parking area for the ski lifts are not paved. I can't believe a winter ski resort would not have paved access. A simple Google shows one of the lodges at 9500 feet. Maybe that is what the reference is about. Just saying Arizona Snowbowl is a pretty vague location reference.

I think the road that this is talking about is 516. I thought 516 was paved but it's been a while since I was there.

I think it is referencing the resort itself. If it were a road name or number then that would be used. The reference gives the name of the resort so I think the high paved point is somewhere in the resort. One mans speculation.

Once way to find out for sure is to go to Yahoo groups and join the county highpointing group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cohp/) and ask the list.

Well, it has been a year. I never stay at the Lodge so I forget where the pavement ends.

I will check for ya here in a couple weeks.

Mark, it is probably going to be the one day option, not the two day. Just as an FYI. :)

I have a picture of my bike at Beartooth Pass from the Colorado 100,000 foot run but it's of the Harley. Guess I'll have to go back this year and get a pic with the ST.

It's the first Saturday in August so all the Harley's are in Sturgis leaving all the roads open for us. ;)
